By offering informed and compassionate support, employers can help ease this journey, ensuring that those experiencing menopause feel seen, heard, and supported within their church family. Our updated template provides greater understanding and awareness of menopause, as well as practical guidance on creating a supportive environment, with flexible adjustments that reflect best practices. Every day is a school day…. My clients are women in menopause who can’t/don’t take HRT (that’s around 80% of them!) but are looking to help themselves with the physical, mental and emotional challenges so they can love their lives again. 😍 I do love what I do - that’s not just seeing the huge changes and transformations that my clients experience it’s also the ‘behind the scenes’ stuff. I spend huge amounts of time researching, reading up to date information, attending masterclasses and ongoing education in the different areas and techniques that I use. Right now I am putting together resources and support for my clients to help them physically, emotionally and mentally through the differents areas of menopause. I am really excited for it all to be ready and available for my clients so that they can have access to it 24/7 so the have the support and even the answers when they want it/need it. Of course it won’t replace the 1:1 or group sessions rather it is there to fill any gaps. It won’t be complete when it is launched as it will keep being added to - with new information, updates as and when they happen as well as videos of master classes & webinars in specific subjects and the guest expert sessions. ✨ Today is World Menopause Day, an important moment to raise awareness and foster understanding about menopause in the workplace. At Sophos in the UK and Ireland we launched our Menopause Policy today. This is aimed at offering guidance, education, and resources to ensure that every team member feels informed and empowered. The Diaspora Experience: Between Two Worlds For women of the diaspora—those living away from their countries of origin—menopause can present a unique set of challenges. Navigating the medical systems of their new countries while balancing the cultural expectations from their homeland can be daunting. Black African women living in the diaspora, for example, may struggle with accessing culturally sensitive care or may feel isolated without the support of their community. Some may prefer natural approaches to managing menopause, drawn from their cultural heritage, while others might be navigating unfamiliar healthcare systems that emphasize medical treatments. Menopause is something that all businesses need to become more educated about, in terms of supporting staff who may be affected. It seems appropriate to highlight this on World Menopause Day. As a business who has had a menopause policy for a while now, we like to think that we have more awareness than many but we’re always learning. We’ve recently become aware of guidance issued by the The National Autistic Society about the impact of menopause on autistic people, as issues such as sensory sensitivities and emotional regulation can become even more difficult. We’d recommend that employers read it as part of their ongoing education in this area. The link to download it is in the comments.
