Celebrating Women's History Month with a nod to Bertha Benz, a trailblazer in the automotive world. In 1888, she embarked on a groundbreaking journey, driving her husband's invention over 100 kilometers. Bertha's resourcefulness, fixing technical issues with a hat pin and garter, showcased her pioneering spirit. A recent LinkedIn analysis shows that women are more likely than men to take a career break. The most common reason women take a step back? Full-time parenting — with those breaks lasting a median of three years. This however does not limit women and mark them incapable, it is just a phase of life. If women like Bertha Benz and all the women around the world are supported, not only will they shape the automotive history like Bertha did but also contribute to inspiring inclusion for women in the industry and "leave a dent" in the universe just like Steve Jobs did. A salute to Bertha Benz and the countless women who continue to break barriers! I want to hear from you: How have you seen companies support women returning from a career break such as parental leave? International Women's Day has passed, but Mercedes-Benz AG's message of empowerment resonates every day. This video challenges the idea that women need to be exceptional to succeed. It poses the question of what if women could simply be engineers, athletes or leaders, without the qualifier of being female? Imagine a world where equality is the norm, not something to strive for. We're imagining it, and we love it! #mercedesbenz #equalityforall #genderequality https://lnkd.in/eTjwPpxA

🚗 Breaking Barriers: Supporting Women in the Automotive Industry 🚗 Why aren't there more women in the car industry? 🤔 Our recent study looked into why women might not want to work in cars. We found that many people think there aren't enough female leaders in the car world, and that companies don't treat men and women equally. Also, some women say it's hard to balance work and home life, and they feel like they can't move up in their careers as easily as men. 😔💼 We need to change how people see the car industry and make it easier for women to work in cars. Let's work together to make the car world more equal for everyone. 💪🌟 #WomenInCars #EqualOpportunity

👉🏽Fact: Only ca 20 per cent of people working in the commercial vehicle industry are women according to the EU Comission. 🚚🚜 We talked with Jannine Burt, UK & Ireland Fleet Sales Manager, about the topic. Jannine has been leading the way by working in the transport industry for 34 years. 1️⃣Opportunity: Why should women pursue careers in the industry? This industry is one of the most rewarding to be in that I can think of, no two days are the same and the variety upon which you can be involved in creates a real buzz. Women should be encouraged to pursue a career within it because there are roles out there that may not have ever heard of, that they’d be perfect for. 2️⃣Diversity: Which transformations have already occurred? I think the industry has followed the same sort of path that society in general has taken in recent years, which is empowering women to voice their opinions and sit on a level-playing field alongside men. One of the biggest transformations that I believe has occurred is women being the platform to showcase their talents. This industry is a space that has - and still is - largely male-dominated industry but to see women now becoming the focal point of major roles is a massive boost to all females, and the trickle down effect is there for all to see at the moment. 3️⃣Challenges: What are the hurdles to overcome? No matter what industry you work in there are hurdles to overcome and ours is no different. Whilst barriers have been broken down there is still a little way to go. At the moment, despite it continuing to grow there are only a small percentage of females within the industry so the obvious next hurdle is to ensure there is a constant stream of new female talent that are joining the fray. Once you find that happy-medium of females to males then you could say that the hurdles have been overcome. Recent research has revealed that just 19% of the automotive workforce is made up of women, compared to 51% in non-automotive sectors. Worse still is that a third said that the automotive industry had never even been put forward as a career option 🤦♀️ This year we are launching Driven Women, our campaign to promote inclusivity and encourage more women to consider the automotive industry as a career choice. We want to promote opportunity and inclusivity at all levels, drive a change in perception and make automotive careers at every level a real consideration for women. If you want to get involved , or just be part of the conversation check out our Driven Women group👇 https://buff.ly/42Hppnf #thebritishmotorshow #motors #weknowmotors #exhibition #events #automotive #innovation #drivenwomen

Today, I want to speak about the importance of women knowing their worth, especially in the automotive trade. For too long, women have been seen as a checkbox exercise, included for the sake of diversity and inclusion rather than for their undeniable skills and contributions. It's time for that to change. Women in the automotive industry bring unique perspectives, innovative solutions, and unmatched dedication. However, it's not enough to simply include women; we must also value and respect their expertise. Women should never feel compelled to offer their skills for free or be taken advantage of under the guise of inclusivity. Recognize your worth. Demand fair compensation for your work, and never settle for anything less. Your knowledge and talents are not just valuable—they are essential to the growth and evolution of this industry. I speak from personal experience over the past few months, where I have been asked to take part in events at my own expense to benefit someone else’s idea or business. Needless to say - i have turned them down! Let’s ensure that diversity and inclusion are not mere buzzwords, but a true reflection of respect and equality. Together, we can create a future where every woman in the automotive trade is recognized for her worth, and where her contributions are celebrated and fairly rewarded. Thank you. #WomenInAutomotive #KnowYourWorth #WomenInTheTrade #DiversityInclusion #RespectAndEquality #WomenInMotorsports #EmpoweredWomen #BreakingBarriers #InclusionMatters #WomenInEngineering #EqualOpportunities #GenderEquality #WomenInTrades #FemaleMechanics #DiverseAndInclusive #WomenEmpowerment #WomenInTech #WomenWhoWrench #RespectWomen #WomenLeaders
