Last week we attended the film screening and panel discussion on the 'Future of Timber'. This event was organised by Evolving Forests to launch their website and film, funded by Built by Nature. The film highlighted the opportunities to get more timber into building and importantly what this means for our forests. Sylva’s Director of Operations, Paul Orsi, joined the panel with Kate Davies of Architectural Association's Hooke Park, James Solly of Format Engineers and Tom Bedford of UK Hardwoods Ltd. There was a real interest from the audience and the panel on how to better connect tree growers and timber users. This is not a new issue but nevertheless one that we have not resolved. There was also discussion on the need for more complex and resilient forests and the issues that causes for the timber supply chain. Our team at Coughlin Company would like to invite you to attend our Cold In-Place Recycling (CIR) Open House on Thursday, July 25th from 11 am to 1 pm in Beaver, Oklahoma. What is Cold In-Place Recycling (CIR)? CIR is a partial depth asphalt rehabilitation construction technique that mills up a road a full lane width at a time, crushes the RAP down to specified size, mixes the RAP with asphalt to create a 100% RAP high-performance cold mix that is then paver laid and compacted, all in one-pass. Yes, there is a lot going on in this one pass operation and it’s best to see it in-person to fully understand the process. That’s why we’re hosting this open house. Here are the details: ❓ WHO ❓ Coughlin Company is hosting the event. ❓ WHAT ❓ Cold In-Place Recycling Open House where attendees will be able to see a live CIR project in person. Lunch will be provided at noon for those that register. ❓ WHEN ❓ Thursday, July 25th, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. ❓ WHERE ❓ The project is located on County Road EW-10 (Beaver Road) near Beaver, OK and lunch will be provided at the Beaver County Fairgrounds (1107 Douglas Avenue, Beaver, OK 73932) at noon. ❓ WHY ❓ Come and see the CIR process and learn more about it. We’ll have people on the road and at the Fairgrounds available to answer your questions and provide project specific details. We’re encouraging folks to register for the event. Registration will get you on our distribution list for any weather/construction related updates and helps us judge the number of lunches that need to be provided.
