Today is your last chance to GiveBIG! Babies of Homelessness offers three ways for clients to easily and quickly access basic needs services–direct service, partner distribution, and pick-up service–and we provide an ongoing 30-day supply of diapers for each child for healthier outcomes. Our delivery model was created with client input as a way to serve hardest-to-reach and "invisible" families disconnected from the case management system, human services agencies in historically disadvantaged communities who have been left to the wayside for diaper support, and as a way to eliminate accessibility barriers that were prevalent (e.g., lack of transportation, long waitlists, inadequate quantity of diapers received and embarrassing intake processes). As families in King County and Snohomish continue to need diapers, we will be here. Help us be here for them by making a donation during this final day of GiveBIG 2024: https://lnkd.in/gi8VNWzc.

🫶💚🧡 Each year on February 17, National Random Acts of Kindness Day grows in popularity. It is celebrated by individuals, groups, and organizations nationwide to encourage acts of kindness. The movement of Random Acts of Kindness inspires people every day. As a favorite celebration for many, people everywhere are enjoying committing random acts of kindness. Not only do the acts of kindness bring joy to the receiver, but they also spread positive reactions to the giver, too! Below are a few ideas for ways to observe National Random Acts of Kindness Day: ~Pay for the coffee or meal of the person in front of you in line. ~Take a donation of food, clothing, or blankets to a homeless shelter. ~Share words of encouragement. You never know who might need them. ~Put your skills to work for someone in need. For example, offer to create a résumé for someone seeking a new job. ~Order a bouquet of flowers to be delivered to anyone in the hospital. Call your local florist and tell them to pick a hospital or nursing home to deliver flowers to. Give them to the person at the front desk so they can be given to someone they think needs them the most. Happy National Random Acts of Kindness Day from the print professionals at Minuteman Press Edison! #February17 #RandomActsOfKindnessDay #DesignPrintPromote #MinutemanPress #NationwideService🌎

Hot on the heels of the announcement yesterday that we’re working with the Big Issue, here we are today launching our Christmas campaign - 12 Days of Homelessness. Coverage hitting with a bang this morning, with GMB news bulletins through the whole show, plus a 10m interview on the sofa with Lord John Bird (Big Issue founder / bonafide working class hero) and Andre, a Big Issue vendor who features in the campaign film. The campaign aims to support Big Issue vendors at Christmas, while helping to de-stigmatise homelessness and make vendors a little more visible so you stop and buy next time you see them. There are many complex reasons why someone might find themselves homeless, and in what have been the most difficult of times, our campaign research shows that a massive 67% of private renters feel at risk of homelessness today. Our campaign film (let’s call it an ad) - starring 12 incredible Big Issue vendors and frontline workers, outlines some of the reasons for homelessness in a re-imagining of the classic 12 Days of Christmas, and lists the many ways the Big Issue (and your donations) can support its vendors. Watch it here https://lnkd.in/eh-vpf5W Such a team effort working with dream clients Zoe Hayward Ruth Law James Barker Jack Humphreys, and can not thank Tom Oldham for excellent campaign photography and Dan Ruttley and the gang at Feed Films Ltd enough for smashing the film and generally being absolute beauties (working til 11pm last night to get it all delivered on time). Legends, all of them. Fingers crossed for lots of coverage / views / shares over the next few days to help drive awareness of this vital issue. And please please buy a copy (weekly) from your local vendor, or buy a Big Issue Winter Support Kit this Christmas 🙏🏻🎄 #bigissue #homelessness #christmas

We constantly have families tell us things like: "These diapers give me peace of mind that my son has enough diapers while he is at school". "Receiving diapers helps me and my family to be clean, reduces my stress, and helps my child sleep better." "These diapers have helped me out a lot because I can buy other household items like toilet paper, shampoo, etc. and also I can use my paycheck money to pay off fines and pay for bills." When you donate to The Diaper Collective, you're doing more than just giving diapers - you're giving families a sense of comfort, security, and dignity. Impact a family in NWA today by ordering diapers through this link: https://a.co/fudAfzo

Happy National Random Acts of Kindness Day Here are 8 ideas to inspire you to spread joy throughout your community today - and every day. 1. Leave uplifting or encouraging notes on your neighbours' doors or mailboxes. A few kind words can brighten someone's day and show that you're there for them. 2. Set up a mini library in your front yard or common area. Stock it with books for all ages and invite neighbours to borrow and donate books. It's a wonderful way to share the joy of reading and spark conversation. 3. Share recommendations and promote local businesses within your neighbourhood. Spread the word about your favourite cafe, restaurant, or local shop. Supporting local not only boosts the community's economy but also encourages a vibrant community. 4. Bake cookies, muffins, or other treats and surprise your neighbours with a delicious homemade delight. It's a sweet gesture that brings smiles and fosters a sense of friendship. 5. Find a local charity or community organization and rally your neighbours to volunteer together. Whether it's cleaning up a local park or serving meals at a shelter. Working side by side for a common cause builds bonds that last. 6. Organize a playdate for the kids in the neighbourhood, complete with games and fun activities. It's a great opportunity for them to socialize and for parents to connect. 7. Surprise a neighbour by mowing their lawn, shovelling snow, or pulling out those pesky weeds. Small acts of kindness like these can make someone's day a little brighter and can help build a stronger sense of community. 8. Set up a puppy playdate at a local dog park. It's a great opportunity for them to socialize and for you to get to know other pet owners in your community. What would you add? #lovewhereyouliv #yegrealestate #edmontoncommunities #edmontonliving #edmontonlocal

Every year it saddens and sickens me to see local businesses profit from the sale of “baby” chicks and ducklings as “Easter items”. They are helpless, frightened, infant birds sold to consumers who have no idea what it takes to properly care for them. The negative outcome for these living birds is sickness, injury or being dumped in the woods with no chance of survival or if unsold, being destroyed by the seller. Please resist the purchase of baby “Easter” animals that feel pain and fear and are not appropriate “props” to stage family photoshoots or “live toys” for children. Urge businesses not to stock and sell these vulnerable baby animals, an action that will ultimately result in their deaths. If you are looking for a loving companion to provide heartwarming family memories, Kansas City benefits from several non-profit rescue shelters with caring staff members who will help with a long-term adoption.
