ACCOUNTABILITY x COLLABORATION = POSITIVE ACTION ⚡ Let’s talk flushing, water companies pollution and a solution.🚽 💦 💡 🚨 Let's face it with 2.5m tampons and 1.4m pads being flushed down the toilet EVERY SINGLE DAY in the UK along with millions of wipes, condoms and even nappies, we are adding directly to the cost, pollution and contamination of pipes and our beautiful aquatic system and urgent action is needed.🚨 Water companies per se have a lot of bridges to rebuild with us, the customer, and the environment, so it's great to see Southern Water taking proactive steps to educate the public and promote responsible disposal practices. The collaboration with FabLittleBag highlights the power of community engagement in addressing these challenges. By providing proven practical solutions and fostering conversations around periods and waste management, we can shift behaviours and reduce the amount of waste that ends up in our waterways. It's crucial to break the #taboo around #menstruation and disposal methods, allowing more people to understand the impact of their choices. #Education campaigns in #schools, #universities and communities can really make a difference in changing perceptions and habits. FabLittleBag is delighted to be working with Southern Water on a long term projects where FabLittleBags are provided into the community as different touch points to encourage good binning behaviour reducing costly #blockages and keeping such #waste out of the #rivers and #oceans. We know through our research with another water company Anglian Water Services Water and Mumsnet a few years back, that providing FabLittleBags changes flushing behaviour. Southern Water with the fabulous Matthew Collins are being proactive, positive and engaging directly with customers, schools and Universities to improve education, knowledge and decision-making re what we flush and what we put down our sinks. It is not the AREA damaged by a #wildfire, it is about the damage. #Factoid from this video - The Rim Fire burned 257,000 acres, with 11 houses and the Lahaina Fire burned less than 1% of that space (2,000 acres), which had 2,200 houses. Wildfires also burn a few hundred degrees hotter than they did in the past. By focusing on the different flavors of wildfire, PBS and Jennifer Balch are focused on the same factors that differentiate Athena's #PredictiveAnalytics. A review of 126,000 ignition events (10 states/5 years), showed only about 8,000 turned into large wildfires. #Windsocks ‼️ typically are used at industries to indicate the direction and strength of the wind to pilots and at chemical plants where there is risk of gaseous leakage. They are sometimes located alongside highways at windy locations. At many industries, windsocks are lit at night, either by floodlights on top surrounding it or with one mounted on the pole shining inside it. #Wind_direction is the direction in which the windsock is pointing. #Windsocks must rotate freely around a vertical shaft, must indicate true wind direction +/- 5 degrees, and indicate 15 knots of wind when fully extended.
