License Assisted Access (LAA) is an LTE feature that utilizes the unlicensed 5 GHz band alongside licensed spectrum to enhance performance for mobile users. It employs carrier aggregation in the downlink, merging LTE in the unlicensed 5 GHz band with LTE in the licensed band to improve data rates and user experience. Operating within the 5 GHz band shared with Wi-Fi, LAA ensures coexistence by avoiding channels in use by Wi-Fi users. This is achieved through Listen-Before-Talk (LBT), dynamically selecting unused channels. In cases of channel congestion, LAA fairly shares channels with others. Network synchronization is the cornerstone of optimal RAN performance and technologies like LTE TDD, Elastic RAN, Advanced RAN Coordination, and NR TDD RAN rely heavily on precise frequency, time, and phase synchronization. However we have observed that recent disruptions in GNSS have raised concerns, stemming from natural phenomena like solar flares to the accessibility of low-cost jamming equipment. We have to make sure we navigate these challenges and ensure the resilience of our mobile network synchronization solutions.
