𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐕𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬, 𝐀𝐈 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐬. At the #Magnetics 2018 conference I gave a presentation titled "#PermanentMagnet Material Options". I concluded the talk with the slide below attempting to inject some humor. So 6 years later we have not met the full promise of autonomous vehicles. The melding of software and AI is still being optimized along with the debate on optimum #sensor technologies e.g. Lidar, Ultrasonic, Vision, Radar. One thing is certain is that the #motors, #actuators, #sensors and other devices essential to make autonomous vehicles mass market reality will require more high performance #magnets to function. Another growth opportunity for magnets......while hope isn't a strategy let's figure out how to supply them from the 'West". #NdFeB #rareearth #rareearths

Our portfolio company Hesai Technology (NASDAQ: HSAI)'s high-performance Pandar lidar series is utilized as the primary sensor for Baidu Apollo Go robotaxis' fifth-generation self-driving system. Later this year, the Apollo Go sixth-generation system will be rolled out, which exclusively uses Hesai Technology's cutting-edge AT128 long-range lidar sensors. Each vehicle is equipped with four ultra-high-definition sensors, offering a detection range of over 200 meters and providing 360° high-definition 3D perception. This significantly enhances route planning and obstacle avoidance. This deployment marks the first large-scale use of an ADAS semi-solid-state lidar solution in robotaxis in China.
