We don't often link media and information with wellbeing. But it’s strange that we don’t, because in the simplest of terms: The content we take in helps shape our minds, much like the food we take in helps shape our bodies. We take in food and information from the outside world to use internally. To power us, physically and mentally. Information is literally food for thought. You’ve known this all along, you just may not have noticed. 🌀 We have to digest heavy meals, just like we have to digest serious facts. 🌀 We delight in juicy fruit, much like we delight in juicy gossip 🌀 We feed our children meals, much like we feed them ideas. 🌀 In the computing world, units of information are referred to bytes, nibbles, and crumbs. That’s no accident. It’s helpful to think about information through the lens of food. It makes information feel more concrete, like it’s something we have control over. Lost in the midst of natural beauty 🌊 Wandering into a place where there's no electricity, no network zone, and the cold bites at your skin, can be quite the adventure. It's in these moments of being lost without our phones that we truly get a chance to reconnect with ourselves and the world around us. I recently found myself in a remote area, completely cut off from the digital world. At first, it was unsettling not being able to check my phone every few minutes. But as time passed, I started to appreciate the beauty of being present in the moment. Without the distractions of technology, I was able to notice the intricate details of nature, the way the locals lived their lives, and the simplicity of it all. It made me realize how much we take for granted in our fast-paced, digitally-driven lives. Being unplugged for a while allowed me to reflect on my own thoughts, dreams, and aspirations. It gave me a sense of clarity and peace that is often hard to find in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In a world where we are constantly glued to our screens, it's important to take a step back every now and then and appreciate the beauty of the world around us.
