Adenia Partners , a Mauritius-based #privateequity firm that focuses on mid-sized businesses across #Africa, geographically diversified its #investor base for its fifth #investment vehicle, which closed earlier this month with an #oversubscription despite a challenging #fundraising environment. Mubadala is going after mid-markets assets. Is it a wise and devious move, or a brave and silly?   Mid-market PE funds a suffering from the lack of exits and can’t return money to their LPs. Mubadala to the rescue! The investment arm of Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund just closed its latest PE fund, MIC Capital Partners IV, on $3.1 billion, well above the initial target of $2 billion. There are plenty of assets to buy from struggling GPs, especially in North America and Europe. The African private capital industry demonstrated resilience in the face of highly volatile macroeconomic conditions. After an outlier year in 2022 marked by a frenzied venture capital investment activity, the industry embarked on a journey towards deal stability and normalcy. In this environment, 2023 emerged as the second strongest year on record in terms of deal volume, surpassing both the average number of deals (264) reported from 2012 to 2022 and the average of 387 deals from 2019 to 2022.
