Here are 5 key highlights and issues related to the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) from the provided file: The CSRD will require about 50,000 companies to report on their sustainability impacts, risks and opportunities using standardized European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). This is a significant expansion from the 11,000 companies covered by the previous Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) The CSRD introduces the concept of "double materiality" - companies must report on how sustainability issues impact their business (financial materiality) as well as their own impact on people and the environment (impact materiality). This provides a more comprehensive view of a company's sustainability performance Listed SMEs will be required to report under the CSRD, but the directive includes safeguards to protect them from excessive reporting burdens. A "value chain cap" limits the information large companies can request from SME suppliers, and simplified standards are being developed for non-listed SMEs Sustainability reports will need to be digitally tagged using XBRL to enable consistent data comparisons across companies. Reports will be submitted to national authorities and made publicly available through the new European Single Access Point (ESAP) database The CSRD enhances accountability by making company management collectively responsible for sustainability reporting. Audit committees will also play a role in overseeing the reporting process #CSRD #SustainabilityReporting #DoubleMateriality #ESRS #SMEs #XBRL #ESAP https://lnkd.in/evFGFs8m

This marks a significant shift from frameworks like ISSB, setting a new benchmark for corporate responsibility.
