I'm sick of the lip service about stopping domestic violence against women. Here's my thoughts below. No, I'm not a lawyer and yes, this is all possibly incredibly naive, but let's start talking about ACTIONABLE items. What would YOU 🗣 add? 👉 Any claims of unregistered guns/firearms should be taken seriously and investigated. Set up an anonymous register. Get these weapons off the streets. 👉 Intensive and regular training for police officers on non-physical DV and coercive control so that they are able to recognise the warning signs. 👉 Additional powers to police to arrest someone based on DV warning signs. 👉 Psychological assessments carried out for court cases must only be done from a vetted list of psychologists that are experts in the field, particularly NPD. 👉 Anyone jailed for domestic violence should not be granted bail. 👉 A Domestic Violence Order should go on the perp's criminal record. 👉 DV cases should be of the perspective that the perp is guilty until proven innocent. The perp needs to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that they did not commit DV. 👉 Legal representation should be of equal or lesser value to the victim's representation. Many DV victims don't have access to money and rely on Legal Aid. The perpetrator may have access to money and a top lawyer. This need to change. 👉 If the perpetrator represents themselves in court, they should not be allowed to directly examine their victim, creating further and unnecessary trauma. 👉Any person found guilty of DV, should not be able to summon their victim back to court to contest any family violence intervention orders, retraumatising their victim. 👉 More financial support for the charities and organisations, mental and allied health care workers who are trying to help women in DV situations. Again, the headline for this news item is misleading. The officer who shot this teen did so after he turned, gun in hand, and pointed it in the direction of the officer who pursued him on foot; his accomplice, who was also pursued on foot and captured, was a teen who was also armed with a handgun. Let's get at least some of the facts out there in the headlines, please.

The way we react to an active robbery, could be a matter of life of death. Here are tips on how to handle the situation. 1. Stay calm and do as the perpetrator says. 2. Scan the perpetrator and gather as much details about the physical appearance as possible 3. Look or hear to identify the identity of the robbery. 4. We need to overhaul the justice system to take these cases seriously. Also, it is time to reorganise the private security guard industry - in many countries they undergo some form of recognised training and act as a kind of "auxiliary" police. What is the point of having security guards if they cannot deter offenders? Many countries use these security guards to protect critical infrastructure and services, as well as contract to provide security to commerce and industry. This is one of many reasons I stress that professionally armed security officers skilled in de-escalation, defensive tactics, non-lethal weapons, and firearms and have arrest or detain authority should be used. This unarmed observer and report guard could have been killed with that single blow to the head; why are businesses still hiring unarmed guards, especially at malls where people are vulnerable, and it takes one crazy, unhinged person to cause a mass casualty situation? Why do malls, corporations, churches, and other locations choose reactive security measures instead of proactive ones? What is your life worth for the members of your organization? How would you feel if innocent people were killed because you hired unarmed guards because you did not want to spend the money to hire armed professionals who have a much quicker response time than the police department since they are on-site? If you are a mall, corporation, or church that is taking proactive security measures, that is great. Keep it up, but let's create a safer environment for our customers, employees, congregation, clients, and ourselves by being proactive with our security measures and hiring professionals who can stop an active assailant.

In England and Wales, "zombie-style knives" were banned in September, making it illegal to own, sell, or transport these dangerous weapons however two months later research from the BBC finds they are still easily available to buy online. The Home Office promises a "rapid review" while police urge tougher measures. Defined as blades over 8 inches long with serrated edges or multiple sharp points, these knives are often linked to violent crime. Authorities are reviewing online sales as some retailers breach the law. Commander Stephen Clayman, the National Police Chiefs Council's lead for knife crime, says the recent ban was a step forward - but more action is needed. He is conducting a review into the availability of knives online, especially on social media. There were more than 50,000 incidents of knife crime recorded in 2023-2024, an increase of 4% on the previous year, according to the latest ONS figures. In the private sector if an executive or owner of a company of virtually any size from small to large is proven indirectly responsible for gross negligence resulting in death or even lesser injury to another, the "corporate veil can be pierced". Thereby holding one or more executives and owners personally responsible. They must often declare personal bankruptcy in such cases. We never ever ever see or hear of any politician or appointed official such as prosecutor, district attorney, judge or other held personally responsible let alone have to declare personal bankruptcy for gross misdeeds. Meanwhile, the average government official including politicians end up with pensions paying out well more in retirement than the average citizen ever makes in salary in any given year. The average pension for them is worth millions of dollars at their retirement while the vast majority of citizens have no pensions, just their savings and social security which rarely totals above many hundreds of thousands of dollars. And those government employees and appointees can virtually never be fired; their job protections ensure they are a nearly untouchable class with effectively no meaningful worries about any material accountability. Close Call With Street Pirate Outside Home of US Supreme Court Justice. I'll refrain however from making hay out of a viral 'good guy with a gun' victory outside the home of a US Supreme Court justice not known as a champion of the Second Amendment. I'd rather use this trending moment of safety created against armed street piracy to applaud the US Marshals Service for their triumph. It's likely saving future crime victims, should punishment fit collection of charges contained in this crime. These charges are, according to post which inspired this article: *Armed carjacking *Pistol without a license *Possession of a large capacity ammunition-feeding device. It illustrates the value of #residentialsecurity agents, government and private sector, and underscores fact that most 'everyday VIPs', my name for the general public, don't have overnight protectors posted outside their homes. This fact animates gun ownership advocacy and laws like permitless carry allowing citizens readily accessible ballistic safety. That's my take away from this close call with a street pirate outside the home of a US Supreme Court justice. Shows that bad things do happen on the proverbial good side of any given town.
