A typical challenge for control room operators is the inherent time delay between taking a quality sample and feeding the result into the plant’s advanced process control (APC) system. This means that operational decisions are made based on information that is, at best, 1-2 hours out of date. Resulting in both over- and under-burning of the clinker due to the reactive nature of the control. With AI-forecasted clinker quality measures, operators benefit from a real-time understanding of the kiln conditions, meaning that they don’t need to wait for physical samples to return from the lab to enact changes. This ensures the most efficient burning while maintaining optimal clinker quality, enabling plants to be proactive instead of reactive in their pyroprocess.
