Thanks for sharing, The composites fuselage manufacturing through automation of tape laying machines is key to meet the high production rates with high precision and quality standards. This comes through the due diligence at design stage itself following DFM & DFA processes. Indian Aerospace design -to-build programs have to learn this if the high production rates with consistent quality and schedules have to be met. For example the co-curing concept used, may be good to achieve structural integrity but is bane for high production rate. Hope DFM & DFA is followed for Indian programs to achieve the high production rates through outsourcing an early involvement of Tier-1 suppliers. Automation is key to the success for medium & large composite parts and assemblies to achieve consistent quality and high production rates particularly for civil aviation. 😇

𝐁𝐨𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 $1𝐁 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚 787 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Boeing is expanding its South Carolina operations with a new Dreamlifter servicing and testing facility, an 8.2-acre concrete addition, and a new employee parking lot. The Dreamlifter, a modified 747 cargo plane, is critical for transporting parts for the 787 Dreamliner assembly. The project aims to streamline logistics near the assembly site, further supporting Dreamliner production. Despite challenges, including supply chain issues with heat exchangers and seat certification delays, Boeing remains focused on recovery. The company delivered 42 Dreamliners in 2024 and plans to increase production to five planes per month by year-end. Supply chain re-synchronization is one of the biggest challenges in commercial aerospace and the key driver for the billions of dollars in excess inventory. Although it's not an easy decision, I am glad to see Leonardo pausing production of composite center fuselage barrels for the Boeing 787 for four months to align production with demand. #aerospace #supplychain #productionrates
