Bayer is in the midst of an enormous transformation, the biggest I have witnessed since having joined the company 23 years ago. It does feel like a big #experiment with many variables being changed at the same time. After months of frontrunner teams and reading up on the Gary Hamel’s theory behind Bill’s ideas, the rubber is starting to hit the road. Despite a company-wide restructuring, Bayer’s appetite for innovation remains undeterred. From strategic collaborations to high-impact acquisitions, the company is focused on fostering scientific breakthroughs across healthcare and agriculture. Intense Week for #Biologicals🌱🔬. Both Syngenta and Bayer signed partnership agreements with different subsidiaries of the same Company. Both conglomerates will seemingly even be using the same tech platform, though for different purposes. Imagine the competition and the rush! 🔥 As per media reports, Syngenta & Lavie Bio will develop a new bio-insecticide using Lavio Bio's high-tech BDD platform to identify & optimize bio-insecticides using AI and Big data. 🦗🔍 On the other hand, Bayer has teamed up with AgPlenus for a sustainable bio-herbicide (broad spectrum but also sustainable? IDK🙄) solution using the same tech platform which is proprietary to their parent company, Evogene Ltd. Evogene is publicly listed, founded in 1999 as a division of Compugen but was spun off in 2002. It's biotech armed with a Computational Predictive Biology (CPB) platform that helps companies in product discovery and optimization. 💻🔬 While it's not uncommon for competitors to partner with subsidiaries for similar parent, using a similar tech platform for R&D is quite rare.
