Companies lack transparency in their hiring process. (4 common claims I frequently hear from HR): ▶️ "We only hire the best talent" Yet they hire someone's kid or unqualified applicants. ▶️ "Fit is most important" But what exactly defines 'fit'? Is it skills, attitude, or abilities? ▶️ "There is no diverse talent" Yet, they screen out diverse talent because they don't have 'industry experience'. ▶️ "We take time to find the best people" But occasionally resort to hiring out of desperation after interviewing only 10 candidates in 6 months. It's time for companies and HR professionals to align their actions with the market, focus on their values, and build equity and transparency into the hiring process.
