The concentration of various industries in and around Debre Berhan has created significant opportunities for the university to serve as a model for fostering collaboration with industries for mutual benefit. To enhance this cooperation, we have fully digitized the university-industry linkage system. This milestone is vital in equipping students with the skills needed to substantially impact the industrial sector. It also facilitates the transfer of industry challenges to the university, where experts and researchers can provide solutions. Additionally, it allows industries to access university laboratories while allowing the university community to utilize industry facilities. This approach is beneficial and valuable for other universities as well. If any institution is interested in adopting this system, both the platform and relevant training are available at Debre Berhan University.

"You know RP is my last choice." Overheard a group of students talking in the train recently, and I couldn't help but noticed that one of them was criticizing it harshly (which I shall not include here). Seems that some still have a negative perception, even after 22 years since the youngest of Singapore's polytechnics was established. If RP graduates could help to dispel those misconceptions and share their experience, perhaps that would be highly useful too. What's life beyond RP, one may ask? For my friends and I from madrasah who wish to maintain wearing the hijab, entering polytechnic was a popular choice. 8 of us graduated from RP, and 5 continued our studies at NUS or NTU. It's nice to read about other graduates' stories too, such as a fellow alumnus Muhammad Shalihin Othman, who is currently pursuing PhD in Computer Science at NUS. So far I've not found RP graduate statistics on their website, although I wish there's one for better clarity. But I read that "The Graduate Employment Survey (GES), jointly conducted by the five polytechnics in 2023, showed that the overall employment rate six months after graduation was at 92.7%." According to a Straits Times article published this year, about one in three polytechnic graduates every year goes on to matriculate at universities here too.

#PolyU welcomes the Report of Quality Audit of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from the Quality Assurance Council of the University Grants Committee released today, and is grateful for the positive review by the #QAC Audit Panel. The Report confirms PolyU’s achievements in safeguarding and enhancing the standards and quality of its academic programmes. It recognises the University’s strategic planning process as “forward-looking” and highlights that the shift towards a scheme-based admission strategy has broadened student learning pathways. The Report also highlights the University’s introduction of the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis ( #AIDA) and Innovation and Entrepreneurship ( #IE) components to the undergraduate curriculum as “a strong example of the continuous revision of the institution’s general offerings with a higher impact on the entire community”.
