Sustainability spotlight: Addressing the environmental impact! After two years of significant progress at Horizon Auto Logistics in Mexico, which includes establishing a Sustainability Committee and Task Force, investing in solar energy and water recycling, we are now taking the next step and engaging our service provider base to embed our sustainability objectives in their services provided to us.  One main objective is carbon neutral transportation. Fossil fuel trucks are notorious for their harmful environmental effects. In contrast, alternative fuel sources greatly enhance the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.  Despite the initial barriers related to cost and technology, the transition towards lower emission transportation is necessary, and may involve interim solutions, until better long-term solutions are available.  As Horizon, we are as well investing in fossil fuel free transportation equipment. This approach resonates with Buckminster Fuller's philosophy: "You never change things by fighting against existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete."  By leading through example, we demonstrate that sustainability can create a win-win-win scenario for the company, society, and the planet.  Engaging providers to integrate sustainability practices strengthens our business model, aligning with our goal to excel in sustainable logistics. #sustainablefuture #thenewhorizon #syn3rgy360 #automotive #automotivelogistics

What’s special about Jean-Marie’s work as a truck driver? 🚚 The sustainability of his road routes! Thanks to his hydrogen truck, he is actively shaping the future of mobility and distribution. The truck is quiet, efficient, and emits only environmentally friendly steam. While his job involves a lot of driving, it is not harmful to the climate. 🌿 In Switzerland, there are 17 hydrogen filling stations, one of the highest numbers in Europe. This development is helping to create more sustainable logistics solutions. It is made possible by the collaboration between Maximator Hydrogen and Bosch Rexroth. 🤝🏻 🟢 Their technology allows hydrogen needed for fuel cells to be filled directly from the storage tank. Thanks to direct compression, vehicles can refuel rapidly and smoothly.  Jean-Marie’s truck, with a full tank, can cover 400 kilometres in summer. 📣 Together with Mepex Consult we were commissioned by the Norwegian Working group for Circular Economy to carry out a study into production and recycling of batteries for electric vehicles, with focus on Nordic countries. 🚗 The study sought to contribute to building knowledge around technologies and procedures capable of reducing emissions and minimising environmental risks across the EV battery value chain, and to provide initial findings that may inform future Best Available Techniques Reference documents.   The EV battery value chain is experiencing rapid growth and evolution at all stages. Each of these stages, and associated technologies, are accompanied by environmental risks, waste products and emissions. Additionally, distinct barriers to the circularity of batteries include degradation of battery capacity and complexity of technologies and supply chains.
