Concerned about the trend I'm seeing in India where many labs are offering internships without adequate industrial knowledge. While making LB agar plates in microbiology is valuable, it's essential for aspiring professionals to understand the broader industrial landscape. Knowledge in DMPK, discovery biology, and user development is crucial for success in today's competitive field. We are witnessing most foreign giant tech companies like Google, Amazon, and Capgemini operating in India, but in life sciences, very few foreign MNCs are setting up in India like Diacel Chiral, Eurofins, and Genesys. The prominent reason here is we are not building that talent pool in India in life sciences. In India, I personally observed colleges that charge 8 lakh fees for life sciences degrees yet can't provide simple technical exposure, not even in plasmid DNA isolation. Then, after completion of the degree, students opt for private lab training courses. In that case, most of these lab owners are business-oriented. A few days ago, one student came to my lab; she had done three internships in Hyderabad in private labs, yet she couldn't answer simple questions like how to make a one molar solution; her demand was, "I need a job in R & D." Now, in India, Contract Research Organizations are emerging. To get a job in these companies, we need more exposure like assay development knowledge, advanced chromatographic knowledge like NI-NTA Affinity, Ion exchange, cloning ligation, vector designing, ELISA, Alphalisa, Alphascreen, stem cell culture, and organoid handling, hybridoma practical knowledge, and flow cytometry.
I suggest all students whenever you meet any private training lab, don't believe in their introductory video they show, don't believe what data they show on the website. You ask them for a list of experiments they are conducting; are those experiments industry viable? Then you confirm admission. We are at Rapture Biotech Hyderabad offering the latest industrial technical training like Alphalisa, Alphascreen, vector designing, cloning, HTRF, FRET Assay, mammalian cell culture, and chromatographic techniques.
