EKA Mobility has firmly established itself as a leader in sustainable transportation, focusing exclusively on electric vehicles (EVs) while eschewing fossil fuels. With a diverse portfolio that spans from three-wheelers to 55-ton tractors, EKA’s vision is centered on environmentally conscious mobility in the commercial vehicle segment. The company’s ambitious plans also include aspirations in fuel cell hydrogen vehicles. As Rohit Srivastava, Chief Growth Officer of EKA Mobility, remarked at Prawaas 4.0, “EKA aims to be a participant in environment-conscious mobility for both people and goods.”
The company’s technology partnerships, notably with VDL Groep from the Netherlands and Mitsui from Japan, position EKA uniquely in the market. “Our collaboration with VDL enables us to leverage their expertise in the bus segment, which is crucial for our growth,” Srivastava explained. EKA Mobility’s in-house capabilities extend to the design and production of seating solutions and bus structures, which enhances its ability to control pricing and maintain high-quality standards.
Currently, EKA Mobility offers a range of buses, including 9-meter, 7-meter, and 12-meter models, with plans for a 13.5-meter low-floor coach within the next year. “We are committed to expanding our offerings and capabilities in the domestic market,” Srivastava emphasized. The company is also focused on international expansion, leveraging its technological ties to explore new global markets.
Addressing concerns about range anxiety, Srivastava stated, “Our efficiency in battery utilization allows us to deliver optimal performance per kilometer.” He emphasized that a well-designed vehicle could alleviate these concerns through both battery size and weight management. EKA’s approach incorporates both city and intercity operations, ensuring that their buses can handle varying demands with innovative charging solutions.
