Ghosted by #Creativity: A Lesson Learned Let me talk about this project that I did for a client. This project began innocently, a sample task from a friend. I poured my heart into it, meticulously crafting every detail. My friend assured me it was a stepping stone, a gateway to a larger venture that would benefit both of us. Naively, I believed. I believed ooooh Chaley! Then come an see revisions, the revisions came in like relentless waves. Each feedback stretched my patience, but I said ''walahi'' I will finish this work. I adjusted angles, tweaked colours, and reimagined textures. After numerous back and forth. He finally settled on the rendering below, which was the initial design I made. aaaaahhhhh I scream inaudibly into my pillow. And then, he vanished. #Ghost mode activated. ''the guy vanish plus the work'' It wasn’t the absence of a deposit that hurts; it was the emotional toll the sleepless nights, the self-doubt, the questioning of my artistic instincts that hurts the most. I had to go back and read some books on principles of design and all. but after this happened this was my resolve; No contracts no work: No more handshake deals. From now on, ink on paper, clear terms, expectations, and boundaries. Percentage deposits is Non-negotiable. It’s not just about money; it’s about commitment I will not lift a finger without this commitment in place. I will give room for feedback not Torture: I will welcome constructive criticisms and one or two revisions, but endless revisions? No more. Last but not the least, I will defend my artistic integrity. No matter what you tell me. One thing I have come to realize is that the empty barrels really make the most noise literally. To it the non paying clients gives the most stress. My creativity deserves respect, not radio silence. And to my elusive friend: If you ever emerge from the shadows, know this I’ve upgraded my procedures. Next time, the ghost won’t find me unprepared.
