Excited to share a personal milestone: I've just released my first app, Wifilicious, on the macOS App Store! 🎉 I've been developing this in my spare time over the past 3 months, learning SwiftUI along the way. Check it out on the App Store: https://lnkd.in/d4eNP84c Learn more: https://wifilicious.app I'd love to hear your thoughts or experiences if you give it a try! #indiedev #macOS #swift #swiftUI #networking

A lot of companies (including LinkedIn and FB) are trying to recreate X-like services about community and messaging. As a user of these services, I would like to compliment X for at least two things: 1. X's notification system is very non-intrusive. They would rather miss a good notification than bombard you with tens of notifications per day. I am sorry to say that LI's notifications are very intrusive. I do not need to know tons of things that LI notifies me about. 2. X's tweeting interface is very robust. If I start a message on X and then switch to other apps for several minutes, I never lose the half-written message or feel lost where I was in X's UI. The differences between X and others in this aspect may be subtle and difficult to pinpoint but they definitely are. These day, the same identical behaviors are implemented by different companies and the end users have to deal with all implementations. I encounter many great implementations and many bad or very bad implementations everyday. I recently wrote elsewhere that among my many OTP senders, the best ones complete the process in just two touches on two devices. The worst one takes 6 or more. I was wondering if others have similar observations.

1.Open Google Maps: On the target phone, open the Google Maps app. 2.Access Menu: Tap on the menu icon (three horizontal lines) located at the top-left corner of the screen. 3.Location Sharing: Select “Location Sharing” from the menu options. 4.Start Sharing: Tap on “Share Location” and choose the duration for which you want to share the location. You can select “Until you turn this off” for indefinite sharing. 5.Select Contacts: Choose the Google account(s) you want to share the location with. This should ideally be your own Google account or the account of someone you trust.

Google is Killing Off the Messaging Service Inside Google Maps: An anonymous reader shares a report: Google is killing off a messaging service! This one is the odd "Google Business Messaging" service -- basically an instant messaging client that is built into Google Maps. If you looked up a participating business in Google Maps or Google Search on a phone, the main row of buttons in the place card would read something like "Call," "Chat," "Directions," and "Website." That "Chat" button is the service we're talking about. It would launch a full messaging interface inside the Google Maps app, and businesses were expected to use it for customer service purposes. Google's deeply dysfunctional messaging strategy might lead people to joke about a theoretical "Google Maps Messaging" service, but it already exists and has existed for years, and now it's being shut down.
