We lost a pitch. It happens... several times a year actually. We win our fair share also. However, this pitch was different - because, despite losing out (close second...), the whole experience was genuinely amazing. A really well run process, a clear brief, transparency and collaboration throughout, invested, enthusiastic, and engaged clients, a fair amount of time afforded, and a proper debrief with honest feedback as to where we fell short. Absolutely no complaints from me and huge thanks to the brand (and people) involved. Onto the next one. Could this be the most cost effective way of finding new customers? Today I spent my lunch break learning more about strategic partnerships with Emmie & Female Founders Rise, Khalia Ismain and Lucy Woolfenden ☕️ A few of my key takeaways were: ⭐️ strategic partnerships can be a brilliant way to tap into a new or wider audience who already like, know and trust the partner brand, and if done well, this will transfer to you through their recommendation. ⭐️ start small and build up to approaching the bigger brands, using insights from past collaborations to build credibility and trust. ⭐️ get on a call to establish what success looks like for the partner and yourselves before getting in too deep. Be clear on what you can both bring to the party. ⭐️ depending on the partnership, informal agreements or more legal t&cs might be necessary. If it will require time spent on your part, get this in place. ⭐️ the partnership might not always be 50/50, but that’s ok if you feel you are getting or giving enough value to make it worthwhile to you.
