Are you vain, selfish, self serving, arrogant, pretentious or just living your best life? Changing the narrative on aesthetics is a polarising task. To those that have never contemplated using the services of a well trained aesthetician it can be hard to understand why you would. Whilst those that have understand the transformative effects it can have for them. Neither view is right or wrong…but judgement is. Especially ill informed judgement of an individual whose reasoning may have been anything but vanity. Low self esteem, lack of confidence, skin complaints or age related developments can all be catalysts for treatment. Skin Within Aesthetics consult on a wide range of issues across it’s clinics ensuring patient satisfaction whatever their reason for the treatment. With patient demand rising we are looking for medical professionals #nurse #pharmacist #doctor or #dentist who are interested in aesthetics and the prospect of owning their own clinic. #nhs #medical #health

Did you just spent an hour crafting the perfect application for a non-clinical role, only to notice Physical Therapy isn’t even listed as an option under ‘Degree’ or ‘License'? Yea...I've been there too. Frustrating. Apparently, every other clinical background gets a nod — nurses, pharmacists, doctors, podiatrists, dentists, chiro's and even MA's. Meanwhile, physical therapists? We’re just...invisible? It’s wild to think that our skills — problem-solving, communication, adaptability, and a deep understanding of improving our approach to problem solving every treatment session — aren’t recognized outside the clinic. We’re so much more than gait belts and TheraBands! Here’s a thought: Don’t sleep on PTs. Or any therapy discipline for that matter! We’re literal movement scientists with a knack for managing chaos, people and getting results. Trained to identify a problem, deploy strategies to solve the problem, re-evaluate the impact of those strategies and then make adjustments until we obtain the desired result. This is the education, experience and mindset all therapists bring to the table. Is this not what a majority of non-clinical roles advertise they are looking for? Well...maybe just not from "us". But this value we bring...it’s transferable. So how many more times do we need to ask companies to open their mind to the possibilities of different skill sets. And if the answer for getting the job is still a NO. Well at least have the appropriate drop downs so we can apply on a level playing field. #PhysicalTherapy #NonClinicalCareers #SkillsTransfer #therapistsmatter #nonclinical #cliniciantransition #goingnonclinical #homehealthleadership #physicaltherapistskills

A message for recruiters…and PTs!! All of the below skill sets mentioned and then some. Can we talk about resilience as a skill set? The resilience of PTs is unmatched.

Yesterday’s experience at a dermatologist's clinic left me with much to reflect on regarding the importance of patient-centered communication in healthcare. I visited the doc for a rash on my ankle. My dermatologist was evidently knowledgeable and experienced. They had an efficient approach to diagnosis and quickly issued a prescription. Yet, as a patient, I felt somewhat overlooked. There was minimal exploration of my perspective on the issue, no discussion about the diagnosis, and I was given little clarity on treatment options. This left me with unanswered questions and a lingering sense of detachment from my care plan. This situation underscores a common gap in healthcare: though well-intentioned and skilled, many healthcare professionals might not fully grasp how their communication style affects patients’ comfort and trust. For patients, feeling heard and involved can be as crucial as the treatment itself, fostering a collaborative approach that can positively impact outcomes. At Acumen, we believe that clinical communication skills should be fundamental for all healthcare professionals. Our Medi-Fluent course is designed to help practitioners recognize and bridge these gaps. Through tailored modules, we focus on enhancing empathy, clarity, and patient engagement—skills that can make a tremendous difference in the patient experience. By incorporating structured communication training, healthcare professionals can build a deeper connection with patients, ensuring that they not only deliver expert care but do so in a way that empowers patients and builds trust. Let’s come together to advance clinical communication skills and make each patient’s journey one of understanding, collaboration, and support. Have you ever had a similar experience?? Feel free to share it in the comments. As a family medicine and sports medicine doctor, my job is to manage everything that comes my way. For example, today I treated a boxer's fracture, managed chronic kidney disease, adjusted heart failure medication, and took care of a patient with neck pain, shoulder pain, uncontrolled diabetes, and more - the list goes on and on! 🩺 One of the most enjoyable parts of my job is being able to manage a broad range of medical conditions - I'm not a specialist, but I have a generalist's perspective and can tackle everything that comes my way. It's incredibly rewarding to help patients improve their health in diverse ways. 💊 However, I can't deny that primary care is the third-most burnt out medical specialty, and there are specific reasons for that. In my opinion, it all comes down to the unnecessary paperwork and third-party interference that come with primary care jobs. This often leads to burnout, regardless of how much we love our jobs. 📝 Recently, I spoke with a medical student who asked me to be honest - do I really enjoy my job? Apparently, they are shadowing a doctor who hates their job, and this is a common experience for medical students. 😔 It's concerning because it could lead to students making unfavorable career decisions, based on their limited exposure to physician burnout. We need to continue pushing for primary care to become better. It is the foundation upon which our country's health rests, and better primary care is the answer to many of the nation's health problems. Let's work together to create a better future for primary care practitioners and our patients! 🙌 I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below. #PrimaryCare #PhysicianBurnout #HealthcareReform #MedicalSpecialties #FamilyMedicine #SportsMedicine #BetterFuture
