Steel plants rely heavily on MgO carriers – dololime and dolomite – for their operations. Recognizing the critical importance of anticipating market shifts, we've harnessed the collective knowledge of specialists to develop a comprehensive prediction model for MgO carrier pricing.   We do not only recognize the necessity of MgO carriers, but we also pride ourselves on delivering a range of high-quality and low carbon footprint products. Our circular metallurgical MgO additives ensure optimal performance for steel manufacturers. However, between the ever-changing landscape of global economics and environmental policies, factors such as CO2 pricing cause significant influence over market dynamics. While conventional MgO Dololime prices sourced from VRM will increase, our innovative MIRECO MgO carriers will stand resilient against certain market pressures. In this role, John will oversee the Company’s raw material supply chains to leverage our iron ore assets as a unique competitive advantage capable of generating real value. This includes increasing our ability to become vertically integrated with our Mini Mill segment, optimizing our metallics mix and expanding commercial opportunities within the metallics space. Before joining U. S. Steel, Mr. Gordon spent four years at Johnson Matthey, a global leader in sustainable technologies, culminating in his position as Managing Director of the Platinum Group Metals Services division as well as President, Johnson Matthey (USA). Prior to joining Johnson Matthey, Mr. Gordon was Global Head of Mining for Clariant Mining Solutions, a leading provider of flotation chemicals and emulsifiers for explosives to the mining industry. Previously, Mr. Gordon worked at Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc., where he held various corporate and operational roles focused on major capital projects, cost and process optimization, and overseeing supply chain, plant maintenance and engineering at a major South American copper mine. Beside the GlyCat technology that reduce cyanide consumption by 80%, Dundee have just developed a new hydrometallurgical cyanide-free process that cuts gold leaching time by 90%. The new process uses sodium hypochlorite with a catalytic amount of sodium hypobromite in acidic conditions to put the gold into solution. Contact time is short, done at ambient temperature and pressure and all chemicals are recycled within the circuit. This process is environmentally friendly, efficient and cost-effective alternative to cyanide.

The proportion of these elements in their host #deposit, their current #market price and the ability to recover them, are the main enabling factors for a rare-earth #mining project to be successful. The average #price for NdPr oxide has fallen below US$50/kg FOB China in recent days, which may be #unsustainable in the long run.
