🌟 Gratitude Post 🌟 A big thank you to ENG/ Karim Gaber for his highly informative session on "How to Read P&ID", part of a fantastic workshop organized by the Egyptian Engineering Syndicate, with the invaluable help of ENG/ Mohamed Ayman In this session, we covered crucial aspects such as the difference between PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), making it easier to understand the hierarchy and complexity of each. ENG/ Gaber walked us through the legends of different P&IDs, and we got hands-on experience analyzing real examples. He also clarified key distinctions between shut-down and blow-down valves, which are critical in maintaining safety and control in any project. Additionally, we explored control loops and the standards used in creating and interpreting P&IDs, which will be invaluable in future projects. Thanks again to ENG/ Mohamed Ayman for organizing and facilitating this practical and educational session. Checklists for Engineering Flow Diagrams The placement of the required equipment and necessary connecting piping with identifications on an engineering flow diagram (such as a PFD or P&ID) is only the initial phase of the work required to make the diagram complete. A great many details must be added so that the process being described on the diagram fulfils its function in an economical and safe manner and is in compliance with environmental requirements. While the details entered vary considerably from project to project, many items are common to most projects. The following checklists regarding major components found on many engineering diagrams should be kept in mind while preparing the diagrams. The lists concern the appurtenances on equipment and piping and also review primary instrumentation as well as important safety considerations. Although the lists are not fully comprehensive, the items in them relate to situations most likely to be encountered and alert the process engineer to the type of details to be considered for inclusion on engineering flow diagrams. #Engineering #Flowdiagrams #PFD #PID
