What an excellent resource for teachers. I really like the addition of emerging use cases being flexible space. The next steps I see are examples of the use cases in action and response from Ed Departments about the data governance in the use of these tools.

This is just the tip of the iceberg . As you can see from this EdTech Insiders map of GenAI in education, the wave isn’t just coming – it has arrived 🌊 . At Equal Opportunity Ventures, we’re seeing AI enabled products across the spectrum in EdTech: tools that help teachers save time on grading, tutors and individualized support, analysis of student skill deficiencies, assessment of school district expenditures and how to drive better resource allocation. GenAI brings promise and massive potential. But is it hitting the mark 🎯 ? So here are my questions for teachers and educators in my network: What are we missing? What problems are these current solutions/products NOT addressing? What gaps do we still need to fill? EdTech investors and founders want to hear from educators in the field whether or not these technology tools are solving your biggest pain points and challenges.  Weigh in!

Investing in AI within a system constrained by Centrally Planned Education and its P-20 Job-Oriented Curriculum Pyramid is like pouring water into a leaky bucket—potential benefits are lost, and innovation is stifled. The AI principle of "garbage in, garbage out" underscores the limited value of data from such systems, which often lack relevance and adaptability for meaningful student growth. The solution lies in the First Principles of Education: shifting from traditional, top-down education rights to learning rights based on individualized learning, free will, and ownership. Imagine an AI system enabling authentic learning through relationships and valuing learning outcomes as assets. Students complete one authentic task and receive assessments aligned with U.S. state and global benchmarks—a concept practiced in 2017. This system delivers both localized and global perspectives. So. Many. Tools. Many of these still feel like wrappers for Chat-GPT and I expect that we will see more differentiation around use-cases, UX, and education-focused models in the next year. The counter argument is that many applications might get wrapped into product offerings of the largest providers (see Google event this week).
