This is quite an interesting proposition, questions remains though? How would SA gov perceive this? What are the implications of ET having it's hands in all cookie jars across the continent for aviation in Africa? And many other I care to explore at the moment... But it's still an interesting proposition, right?

Nigeria’s Air Peace to lease Norse Boeing 787s to commence London services Nigerian-based airline Air Peace is preparing to start its long-awaited service linking Lagos with London on March 30, 2024. Without available aircraft of its own to start services on the route, the carrier will be using leased Boeing 787-9s supplied by Norse Atlantic Airways (Norse) The new route will see Air Peace operate from Lagos’ Murtallah Muhammed International Airport (LOS) to London-Gatwick Airport (LGW) four times per week commencing at the start of the IATA northern summer schedule period. According to Air Peace, the agreement with the UK-based arm of Norwegian carrier Norse is a wet-lease deal that will last for two months initially, but with the possibility of an extension. The airlines have also disclosed that they are in exploratory talks about further ways in which Norse aircraft could be sued to expedite Air Peace’s ambitious long-haul expansion plans. Ethiopian Airlines aims for growth in China with new partnerships; Ethiopian Airlines Group has signed two agreements with China-based organisations that aim to help it grow its business in the air cargo market. The Group has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Xiamen Iport Group and a memorandum of understanding with China Henan Aviation Group (CHAG). In February last year, the airline also added freighter flights connecting Xiamen with São Paulo and Santiago via Addis Ababa, plus freighter flights between Shenzhen and Liège. Ethiopian flies to 135 international passenger and cargo destinations, including 63 African cities. John Grant's recent three-part series focusing on #African #Aviation for OAG looked at the two legacy airlines in the continent, the challenges of an increasing population with regard to aviation demands, and the rate of aviation growth across Africa. In Eastern Africa, 38% of all capacity is based around Ethiopia and the national carrier Ethiopian Airlines. In Central/West Africa, one-third of all capacity is from #Nigeria, a market six times larger than the next largest in the region but where the largest airline, Air Peace Limited, only has a 10% share of all capacity; indeed, Ethiopian Airlines are the second largest airline operating in the region! With ninety-nine airlines operating scheduled flights from Central/Western Africa last summer and a total market of some 19.4 million seats there would appear to be perhaps too much competition or selective operating by some airlines.
