During a recent visit to a construction site, I observed the gradual descent of a once-stable slope. This shift, exacerbated by recent weather patterns, highlighted the dynamic nature of geotechnical challenges in our projects. Understanding the underlying factors—such as soil erosion and water runoff—became pivotal in devising effective stabilization measures. It's a reminder of the critical role that geotechnical engineering plays in ensuring project safety and resilience against natural forces.

Through my experience in #geotechnical works specially in the field of #deep_foundations design, construction and analyzing field test results, I have come across a significant issue that can have a major impact on project costs. the variance in #piles #bearing_capacity design calculations using equations and actual load tests results especially in rocky, stiff, and very dense soils . The discrepancy between the designed capacity and the actual test results can be alarming, leading to unforeseen expenses and project delays. 📉 To mitigate this risk, it is crucial to conduct thorough preliminary load tests, especially in large geotechnical projects and after obtaining your test results you must optimize you design. 💡 You may say that but we already performed the required #geotechnical #investigations and we have the best design tools, believe me you will face many many geotechnical investigations with low quality, experience and underestimating #soil design parameters. If you're tempted to cut corners and skip the essential #verification_load_tests on #fast_track projects, think again. Trust me, the repercussions could end up burning a considerable hole in your pocket. Don't gamble with the structural integrity of your project – invest in the necessary testing to guarantee its #success and #optimize your #design according to the results your already have. 💰 Let's ensure the success of our projects by prioritizing accurate testing and validation procedures. Don't let a miscalculation bury your #budget! 🏗️ #GeotechnicalEngineering #PileBearingCapacity #ProjectManagement #LoadTesting #CostEfficiency.
