In June 2024, the EPA reduced limits for ethylene oxide particulates. Jefferson county, known for the outdoors and proximity to the mountains, has elevated cancer risk of 700 in 1,000,000, higher than the 1 in 1,000,000 baseline. Ethylene Oxide, emitted from medical equipment sterilization at Terumo BCT and LivaNova plants in Jefferson County Colorado and other manufacturing processes, plays a crucial role in this issue. Explore the Air Toxicity mapping tool to delve deeper. May be worth researching when buying a home. Cancers caused by ethylene oxide include NHL, Breast Cancer, Myleoma, and Leukemia. #cancerincidence #jeffersoncountyco #ethyleneoxide #colorado #TerumoBCT #LivaNova

✨ 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 ✨ This week, we are excited to introduce one of our newest team members, Malishca Perumal. Malishca is a dedicated medical scientist in our diagnostic result interpretation team, and we asked her to tell us more about her role at NMP/NWU:CHM. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗯? I am a newly appointed medical scientist in the diagnostic result interpretation team. I enjoy being part of a team that provides a diagnosis to patients and their families. Contributing to the moment when we can finally offer answers and relief to those who have been searching for clarity is incredibly fulfilling. Additionally, the collaborative environment and the opportunity to work with cutting-edge diagnostic technologies continually inspire and challenge me to grow professionally. The direct impact of our work on improving patient care and outcomes makes every day rewarding. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂? I have refined the foundational skills I gained during my internship. The daily mentoring and interactions with the team have deepened my passion for the field of rare diseases. Diagnosing and interpreting Inborn Metabolic Disorders (IMDs) is a unique skill set that has allowed me to deliver life-changing news to patients. Many families endure years without a diagnosis for their child with a rare disease. Our expertise and resources enable us to provide these families with answers, whether it’s a diagnosis for their current child or guidance for future pregnancies. Furthermore, my role has enhanced my problem-solving abilities, enabling me to think critically and innovatively when faced with challenging cases. This comprehensive skill set not only improves patient outcomes but also contributes to the overall advancement of our team's capabilities in the field of rare diseases. 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁? I would choose Empathic Influence. The ability to deeply understand and connect with others on an emotional level, coupled with the power to positively influence their emotions, has the potential to create profound changes. I would use this power to foster empathy, compassion, and understanding among individuals and communities, promoting harmony and cooperation in resolving conflicts and addressing social issues. By spreading feelings of positivity and empathy, I believe we can cultivate a more compassionate and inclusive world where people support and uplift each other, leading to lasting positive transformations in both individual lives and global affairs.
