Yesterday, I visited Taco Bell for the very first time! 🍴🌮 and saw the line on the table "When was the last time you did something for the first time?" This simple yet powerful question mirrored my thoughts on the significance of trying something new in our personal and professional lives. In sales and negotiation experts, we often stick to proven methods and strategies. However, true growth and innovation come from stepping out of our comfort zones and embracing new challenges. Trying something new not only brings excitement but also opens doors to endless possibilities. Whether it's a new dish, a fresh approach to sales, or a bold negotiation tactic, innovation often starts with the willingness to explore the unknown. Taking that first step into the unknown can lead to remarkable outcomes. Let's commit to pushing our boundaries and seeking new experiences. Don't let fear hold you back. Challenge yourself to take that first step, and watch how it transforms your journey. #NewExperiences #Innovation #StepOutOfYourComfortZone #SalesTraining #NegotiationSkills #FirstTime #TacoBell #TrySomethingNew

The Power of Small Wins: A Coffee Shop Revelation Sometimes, the most profound lessons come from the simplest experiences. Recently, I had an eye-opening moment during a routine visit to my favorite coffee shop. As I waited for my usual latte, I observed the Starbucks behind the counter. She greeted each customer with a genuine smile, remembered regulars by name, and handled the morning rush with grace and efficiency. It struck me how these seemingly small acts created a welcoming and positive atmosphere. Inspired by this, I started a conversation with her. She shared that her goal was to make each person's day a bit brighter, one cup of coffee at a time. This interaction left a lasting impression on me. 1. Small Wins Matter: In our busy professional lives, we often chase big milestones, but it’s the small wins that build momentum and morale. 2. Personal Touch: A simple gesture, like remembering a name or offering a smile, can significantly impact someone’s day and foster strong relationships. 3. Consistent Excellence: Delivering consistent, high-quality service, even in routine tasks, can differentiate you and leave a lasting positive impression. This experience reminded me to appreciate and focus on the small wins in my professional journey. They not only add up to larger successes but also enhance the quality of our interactions and work environment. What small wins have made a big impact in your career? #ProfessionalGrowth #SmallWins #CustomerService #Leadership #Inspiration

How many of you remember the classic Dunkin’ Donuts commercial with Michael Vale, where he famously says, “Time to make the donuts”? 🍩 One of the most memorable ads features him leaving the house saying, “Time to make the donuts,” only to return shortly after, exhausted, saying, “I made the donuts.” At one point, he even encounters himself both leaving and returning simultaneously, looking completely worn out and bewildered. This commercial resonates with many of us in our careers. We love our jobs and the career paths we’ve chosen, but sometimes it feels like we’re stuck in an endless cycle of repetitive tasks. We go to work, complete our tasks, but often find little joy in the routine. So, what can we do to break this cycle and find more fulfillment in our work? Set SMART Goals: Establish goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. These can be short-term or long-term, and even fun! For instance, use a word-of-the-day calendar and track how many times you use the word, aiming to beat your record each day. Change Your Work Habits: If you have a list of tasks, try completing them in different orders to break up the monotony of your day. This can keep things fresh and engaging. Collaborate with Your Team and Seek Feedback: Step out of your comfort zone and engage with your team. Gather new ideas, gain fresh perspectives, and ask for feedback on areas where you can improve. Celebrate Every Win: I know someone in Talent Acquisition who, whenever they or a colleague makes a hire, they blow a horn and shout “yeehaw!” It’s a fun way to celebrate successes and boost team morale. Be Receptive to Change: Embrace change, whether it means switching positions, seeking a new career, or joining a new organization. You’re never too old to learn something new or try something different. Who knows, maybe that change will lead you to an amazing opportunity with a fantastic team like the one here at Jack Henry! #CareerGrowth #WorkLifeBalance #MotivationMonday #SMARTGoals #Teamwork #CelebrateSuccess #EmbraceChange #JackHenry #ProfessionalDevelopment

I found management early on in my career - real early. At 17 I was an Assistant Manager, and then at 18 I moved to a General Manager position at a busier store with a different owner. Profitability, COGS, labor rates, hire/fire, were all on me. I should have been more freaked out, but I really enjoyed it. Granted, this was at a Little Caesar's Pizza. I had a staff of about 20. We were one of the higher grossing shops in Sacramento. On a really good night we would sell 300+ pizzas. I learned quickly that when work was fun and you let your team know they were appreciated, things went better. I was 18. I didn't read that in a book, or take a class, but I did notice it and so went out of my way to make work enjoyable. I've never stopped. "Fun" is not messing around, or goofing off, although I was 18, but that's not this story... 🙃 🤐 😆. Getting 300 pizzas out the door in one evening is HARD. It takes teamwork. It can be stressful. Setting the stage with the team of what's to come, letting each of them pick part of their role, acknowledging execution as well as effort, and then when it's over for the night giving a collective well done, is still leadership table stakes. There were lots of things I did not do well, learned, and improved (the cycle is still repeating), but this whole leading people/teams to accomplish cool, improbable, challenging, and even more complex/high visibility, company transforming work has stuck. Deep. ❤️ #peoplefirst

As I move on to the next chapter of my career with Pizza Hut and Yum! Brands, I want to acknowledge the deep impact that the Pizza Hut Canada team has had on me, both personally and professionally. This chapter has transformed me as a human being in a short span of 1.5 years. While I can write essays about my innumerable learnings, here are the 3 biggest lessons that I will always keep with me : 1. Leading with Heart From this diverse team and its passionate leaders, I learned what it truly means to Lead with Heart. Leading with Smart (intellect) and Courage are skills that I have honed through my entire career, but I often had my personal 'walls' up when I showed up at work. As someone who has faced difficult personal challenges at several points in their life, I hesitated to truly open up about my personal truth at the workplace - but this team broke down my walls and challenged me to connect with each and every person at the workplace, with raw and authentic vulnerability. Here I found the strength to openly share my personal stories, with all the good, bad and ugly chapters - and show up as a 'whole' human being and not just a professional colleague. I learned the art of connecting personally with people and learning their stories, and how these connections pave the way for any meaningful transformation that I want to bring about for my teams. I learned to share sorrows and not just joys, shortcomings and not just strengths - celebrating both the downs and ups of life with pride and humility. 2. The Importance of Emotional Self-Regulation To be an impactful communicator, I learned that healthy regulation of my own emotions, especially during moments of high pressure, tight deadlines, unpopular decisions and business turbulence is paramount. We look to our leaders for verbal and non-verbal cues and this can significantly impact psychological safety and trust at the workplace. Our lifelong personal experiences unconsciously influence how we react or respond to different triggers, and how we behave using certain mental templates at the workplace - especially during stressful times. Through my personal journey with therapy and unwavering openness to feedback, I am committed to building awareness of my triggers and templates, and improving my emotional self-regulation and interpersonal communication skills. 3. The Power of Entrepreneurship and Frontline teams Through this role, I met with incredible franchise partners and their frontline restaurant teams who bring our brand to life in their stores every single day. I learned how the true heart of our business beats not in our boardrooms but in our restaurants. I learned how to partner with cross-functional teams to drive our business forward, upholding true partnership and proactive engagement with our Franchise community. I am excited to continue supporting our Franchise partners and Restaurant team members as I move into my next role. Team Pizza Hut Canada - you will be missed ! 💖
