When you choose to be authentic, you risk dividing an audience. Some will lean hard towards you, while others may go as far as hating you. But that is okay! Some people don’t like authentic leaders for two reasons. Either it highlights their own insecurities about being authentic or they fear your influence. But the ones that follow you will put their full trust and loyalty in you as a leader. The positive impact will greatly outweigh the negative. So, how do you become an authentic leader? First, you must face your fear of being rejected or disliked by some people. One step you can take is finding a mentor or coach who shares similarities with your authentic self. Together you can work on small steps to build confidence by gradually being more authentic in different settings. Eventually, you will gain the ability to let your true self shine and inspire others.
