This is the kind of training videos I want to include in my training as an instructional designer. Not some paper doll video mess 😫 we need some Rescue 911 quality reenactments 😂. Some thing that’s gonna get the workers attention and get them talking! Make it like a soap opera. Hire local actors or get students studying acting and film to intern. #instructionaldesign #instructionalvideo #trainingvideo #corporatetraining

How do you know if you are ready? Like READY ready? I call my favorite preparation test "The 2am Test." If I woke you up in the middle of the night and told you to do your monologue, could you do it? More ways to test if you are prepared: Say the lyrics to your favorite song as fast as you can. Can you say your lines that fast without any hiccups? Record all your cues lines, but leave only five seconds of silence for your lines. Can you squeeze in all your lines before the next cue line plays on the recording? (Caveat: monologues may take longer than five seconds. lol) Get into what I like to call F.L.O.E.W. Write the First Letter of Every Word in your script. Can you go through the entire script by just looking at the first letter of every word? If you can answer "Yes" to the questions above, you should be in good shape. The ultimate test? Do you feel confident? #actors #acting #theatre #presentation

𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗧𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁? NO ~ I did once believe that anyone could learn to act. But in my experience of being an actor for 40 years, and working and teaching acting for nearly as long, I now believe this not to be the truth. The truth is Acting can be taught as long as the acting student has the ‘creative impulse’ resting inside of him or her to begin with. An acting teacher’s job is to awaken the creative impulse in the acting student. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀? WHAT IS IT? Having a good voice is maybe an obvious quality an actor needs but there is another, maybe not as obvious. What is it? To address this question we must ask the same question of "Theatre". 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗲? THE IMMEDIACY OF THE PRESENT MOMENT. All good Acting aspires to this Principle. Regardless of the play's content, style or direction, the only individual who can apply this Principle is The Actor. The actor's ability to execute this Principle is independent of the written material. The Immediacy of the Present Moment can only come from the Actor. This ability to be ALIVE in the Present Moment is that quality that makes for good Acting, and this ability can be taught. To quote Jerzy Grotowski (The famous Polish teacher/director) "𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙧𝙤𝙡𝙚... 𝙃𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙨, 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙝𝙞𝙢𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛... 𝙃𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙩." It's in this MEETING ‘actor to fellow actor’ where The Present Moment is ignited. www.peter-sardi.com.au #OnlineActingClass #ActingWorkshop #ActingClassesOnline #AustralianMaleVoiceArtist

The word ‘director’ comes with a lot of assumptions. As a theatre director myself, I know a lot of people think this role means to tell people where to stand and what to say and how to say it. And, while I have worked with directors who do pretty much that, I believe that is not the role of a ‘good’ director. In my book, a ‘good’ director is there to be a leader of people, a collaborator, a provocateur, a coach, an emotional support, a facilitator of safety and of creativity. So why is it that often that is not what we get to see in a rehearsal room? I think it comes down to the pressure of getting things right. In theatre the stakes are high- ultimately you are inviting a paying audience into a room to watch something you have created! This can lead us to ask the following questions… Can we trust that an actor will bring something brilliant and creative to the role? Wouldn’t it be easier to just tell them what to do? What happens if they can’t get there? In my experience, actors (and humans) are incredibly creative. My initial role as a director is to facilitate an environment that allows them to be so. This is the first step. From then onwards it is simply a matter of shaping that creativity to meet your taste. Ultimately an audience wants to see and feel connection between actors. If as directors we can do that, we’re certainly on the right track! If you're starting out in theatre, here’s actress Allison Weir's advice 👉 Join as many amateur dramatic groups as possible. The more scripts, genres, and plays you expose yourself to, the better. It’s all about exploring and expanding your range. Don’t box yourself into just one style—explore everything from murder mysteries to musicals. 🎭 👉 Focus on building chemistry with fellow actors. Theatre is a team effort. The more you work with others, the better you’ll understand how to connect and perform as part of an ensemble. Get involved with different groups and push yourself to try new things. 👉 Take on challenges. Whether it’s a small cast or a huge production, don’t be afraid to try something outside your comfort zone. That’s where growth happens. 💡 Above all, enjoy the journey. Theatre is an immersive experience, and the more you throw yourself into it, the more you’ll love it. What's your next challenge? 🎬 #TheatreJourney #ActingAdvice #TheatreLife #Growth #CreativeProcess #StagePerformance #AmateurDramatics #ActorLife #KeepLearning #PerformingArts
