Surprisingly, not all boats are well insulated. This is due to a tricky trade-off between weight and insulation performance. Traditional insulation materials, like thick glass wool, are often too heavy for marine applications, increasing the vessel's weight and affecting the ships performance. But there is a solution. Pyrotek [ACOUSTIC & THERMAL Insulation] has created a material with high insulation capabilities - without adding unnecessary weight - making it ideal for marine insulation. We are following a team of renowned industry experts, including Dykstra Naval Architects , VRIPACK DESIGN , and Vitters Shipyard , who are working on a ship that does not use fossil fuels during its operations, where this material became an important part of improving the vessels energy performance. 🚤🌍 | #MARINE & #SUSTAINABILITY SPOTLIGHT | The never-ending balance act in the marine industry - insulation weight versus performance. Can a vessel really benefit from both at the same time? More traditional materials (thick glass wool for example) may deliver very good performance but will also add unnecessary weight, resulting in sacrificing on the performance of a vessel. Is using more energy to operate the vessel really necessary? Pyrotek have supplied a high-performance insulation material that delivers excellent thermal protection and acoustic properties without the added weight - this combination makes it ideal for marine applications. We're excited to be following marine industry experts, including Dykstra Naval Architects, VRIPACK DESIGN, and Vitters Shipyard , who are working on a fossil fuel-free yacht. Our material plays an important role in enhancing the vessel's energy efficiency. "Launching a ship: From slipways to airbags, marvel at the techniques turning shipyard giants into ocean voyagers." Ship launching is the process of transferring a newly built or repaired vessel into the water. It marks a significant milestone in shipbuilding. The main types of ship launching are: Side Launching The ship is launched sideways into the water. This method is suitable for narrow spaces but creates significant waves. End-On Launching The ship is launched stern-first or bow-first into the water from a slipway. This traditional method requires a long, clear path and is widely used. Airbag Launching Large rubber airbags are placed under the ship, inflated, and rolled towards the water, allowing a gentle launch. This method is flexible and cost-effective. Float-Out The vessel is built in a dry dock, which is then flooded to float the ship out. This method is used for very large ships and ensures a controlled and safe launch. Each method has its specific applications depending on the ship's size, location, and available infrastructure. credits : usa.industrial IG #shiplaunching #marineengineering #engineering #construction #civilengineering #civilconstruction #engenharia #engenhariacivil
