Banning the sale of tobacco to the young generation (born 2006-2010) could prevent 1.2 million lung cancer deaths in 185 countries across the globe by 2095. It translates to about 40% of the total cancer deaths expected in this cohort and would prevent 46% of future lung cancer deaths among men and 31% among women. Over 60% of the deaths prevented would be in low- and middle-income countries.
🆕 #IARCpaper published in The Lancet Public Health, the first study of its kind, shows that more than 40% of all #LungCancer deaths could be avoided in people born in 2006-2010 if tobacco smoking🚬 were eliminated🚭. https://lnkd.in/gtkBSgvS
