Sometime in April, a disabled lady was selling recharge cards, water, kunu(soya bean juice). The tricycle I entered was carrying two other ladies, the driver decided to stop by to buy water and kunu from this lady and he said, Madam, give me pure water and one kunu(soya bean juice) hurry oh. The lady was trying to adjust her walking aid(I can relate with this, it’s painful and difficult sometimes, but one has to get the perfect position) the driver was getting impatient, I got down and assisted her to sell the water and kunu, she thanked me and we got moving. These ladies started discussing: lady 1: I can’t buy anything from this lady oh, she is too slow. Lady 2: if not because of this sister, we for sleep there today. Me: But you can give your money to beggars whose hands and legs are perfect? Just because she is not as fast as you want her to be doesn’t mean she can’t sell her product. You can easily get down and pick what you want and give her the money. Driver: Na why I dey always buy from her, she dey try, e nor easy. We tend to face this problem everyday even with employers. Some won’t even give you the opportunity, they will help you conclude, he/she can’t do it! Some of us chose not to beg, all you can do is, support us, give us the opportunity. #disability #disablepeople
