As Black History Month begins, we recognise the remarkable contributions, resilience, and achievements of the black community who have shaped the world across every field - especially fire. This month is a time for reflection and education, and today we're focusing on a few individuals that fought for the safety of people and property despite the hardships they faced, breaking barriers not only in their time, but in ours too. At Millwood, our commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion aren’t just values for one month - they are fundamental pillars for progress all year long. The journey toward equality is ongoing, and each of us has a role to play. Together, let’s uplift Black history, culture, and stories - not only during this month but every day! #BlackHistoryMonth #FireSafety #DiversityAndInclusion #FireProtection #BlackExcellence #CelebrateBlackHistory #InclusionMatters #EquityAndJustice

Today, we honor the historical significance of Juneteenth, commemorating the emancipation of the last group of enslaved Black Americans by Union troops on June 19, 1865. At ASK Energy, we recognize that Juneteenth is not just Black history; it's American history. 🇺🇸 As we celebrate, let's take meaningful steps toward diversity, equity, and inclusion: 1. Learn and Listen: Engage in open conversations about the Black experience. Reflect on what you know and what you don't. Let's learn together! 🗣️ 2. Connect to Broader Goals: Link Juneteenth to our broader DEI objectives. By celebrating this day, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace. 🌟 3. Explore Black History: Encourage employees to explore Black history. Share resources, books, and documentaries. Knowledge empowers change! 📚 Happy Juneteenth! Let's continue our journey toward a more equitable and united future. 🌈🤗 #Juneteenth #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #ASKEnergy

On Black Awareness Day, we are invited to reflect on history and recognize the essential contributions of Black culture to the building of our society. It is a moment to celebrate the strength and resilience of the Black community, which transforms challenges into power, overcoming barriers imposed by centuries of exclusion. ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 At the same time, this day challenges us to confront the inequalities that still persist. Racism is not just a matter of the past; it is a reality that must be faced with courage and urgency. If we want change, we need to act today: listening, learning, combating discriminatory practices in our daily lives, and supporting inclusion initiatives. More than just a date, Black Awareness Day is a commitment to equity. May our daily actions reflect respect for diversity and justice. Only then can we build a future where all voices are heard, valued, and celebrated. At Baril Advogados, we believe in the importance of inclusion and social justice. We are committed to internal diversity policies, educational initiatives, and fostering an environment where everyone feels respected and valued, regardless of their background. 🤲🏽⚖️ ✨ #SomosTodosBaril #BlackAwarenessDay #RacialEquality #Equity #Diversity #Justice #Respect #AwarenessInAction

It’s Black History Month 2024 and this year’s theme is ‘Reclaiming Narratives’. This theme is about recognising and valuing often-overlooked stories that shape Black British identity. It’s important to correct historical gaps and misrepresentations in Black history. Often, mainstream stories have ignored or misrepresented Black contributions. By reclaiming these narratives, BHM empowers individuals and communities, affirming their place in history and society. We believe that a diverse and inclusive culture is one where people respect and celebrate their differences, and everyone has the chance to succeed. By raising awareness, we can continue to develop a culture that values diverse perspectives and experiences. Gordon Marshall, Senior People Partner, said: “We are committed to diversity, belonging, and inclusion because it is the right thing to do. Black History Month helps us reflect on our practices and policies regarding diversity, ensuring we are genuinely committed to creating fair opportunities for all colleagues.” Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eYhSEYer #BlackHistoryMonth #SalutingOurSisters #WeMatter #diversity #inclusion #utilities #avove

Did you know… October marks Black History Month in the UK, and this year the theme is Reclaiming Narratives. The event began in the US in the 1920s, and was first celebrated in the UK in 1987. It also takes place in Canada, Germany and Ireland and gives everyone the opportunity to share, celebrate and understand the impact of black heritage and culture. So, how can YOU support Black History beyond October? Some actions here you can take to be an ally 365 days a year: Educate Yourself – Commit to continuous learning about Black history, culture, and contributions, beyond what is taught in schools or highlighted during BHM. Diversify Your Network – Actively engage with and amplify Black voices, not just within your professional circles, but also in your personal life. Challenge Biases and Speak Out – Don’t wait for Black History Month to challenge racism or unconscious biases. Speak up in the moment, whether in the workplace or in social settings. Hold Your Workplace Accountable – Advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion to be embedded in company policies, recruitment, and promotion practices, all year round. #BlackHistoryMonth24 #Allyship #InclusionMatters

October is a month of many themes and celebrations all of which important. As we celebrate Black History Month, it’s a time for all of us, regardless of our backgrounds, to honour the incredible contributions and achievements of Black individuals throughout history. This month gives us a powerful reminder of the resilience, creativity, and strength that have shaped our world. From civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks, to literary giants like Maya Angelou, scientific pioneers like Katherine Johnson and George Washington Carver, the impact of Black excellence is profound and far-reaching. Today, we should also celebrate contemporary figures who are making history in their own right: 💡 Kamala Harris: The first Black, South Asian, and female Vice President of the United States. 💡 Amanda Gorman: The youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history, whose words inspire millions. 💡 Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett: A leading scientist in the development of the COVID-19 vaccine. 💡 LeBron James: An NBA superstar and philanthropist, advocating for education and social justice. We can all make a difference this Black History Month: ◼ Educate: Learn about Black history and share what you learn with others. ◼ Amplify: Use your platform to highlight Black voices and stories. ◼ Volunteer: Offer your time and skills to support initiatives that promote equality and inclusion. Together, we can continue to build a more inclusive and equitable society. #BlackHistoryMonth #Diversity #Inclusion #Equality #CelebrateBlackExcellence #BlackLeaders #Heritage #DEIB
