Why does conflict and war continue to plague our world? It's deeply painful to see innocent lives lost, families torn apart, and communities shattered. The thought of it hurts. But what if we chose a different path? Why fight when we can talk? Why hate when we can love? Let's resolve conflicts with kindness and empathy. One world, one humanity. Let's rise above borders, religions, and differences. Let's choose peace, forgiveness, and understanding. Together, we can create a world where everyone can live without fear. #PeaceForAll #OneHumanity #StopConflict #StartDialogue #LoveConquersHate #GlobalPeace https://lnkd.in/dshKfYBt

Talking about our lived experiences without having to label some people “good” and others “bad” finally takes us to a place where healing can happen- personally, professionally and as a society. This brilliant perspective by Lovelyn Nwadeyi still resonates globally. Thanks, Viola Davis for amplifying. #ourstoriesmatter #storytelling #classic #shesaidwhatshesaid

In William Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice," Shylock's poignant monologue challenges us to reflect on the universality of human suffering and the cyclical nature of oppression. This powerful depiction prompts us to question how those who once suffered can become the very oppressors they once condemned. As we witness ongoing conflicts and injustices, it's crucial to examine our roles and responsibilities in addressing these issues. Read my latest post for an in-depth exploration of these themes and their relevance to our current world. #Empathy #Oppression #HumanRights #SocialJustice #Humanity

LETS DISPELL SOME MYTHS. dancing isnt evil. it's exercise. for those who reach the appropriate age; making out & expressing love for God by showing affection to someone else; isn't evil either. AN ANGEL ISNT A PERSON WHO NEVER EXPERIENCED PHYSICAL LOVE; ITS SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STAR & CAME BACK TO HELP YOU EVOLVE. ITS A BAR. SURELY THERE ARE LOTS OF ANGELS TRYING TO SAVE THE "LIVING" FROM HARMING THEMSELVES. THIS IS A FALSE RELIGIOUS MESSAGE; SAYING 'PURITY' IS ONLY ABOUT GIRLS BEING NON-SEXUAL (NOTICE THE SEXISM; THE RELIGIOUS SEXUAL PURITY TEST ISNT REALLY APPLIED TO BOYS). IN OUR HUMAN CONDITION THE GREATEST SYN IS IN OUR TENDENCY TO BE UNSCRUPULOUS & SPIRITUALLY NUMB TO THE LIFE OF ALL OTHERS. THE DARK SIDE CAN ONLY PRACTICE ANT LYON POLITICS. (NOT BEING ETHICAL TO THE 'WHOLE BODY' IS THE GREATEST SYN). UNETHICAL PEOPLE ARE COMPULSIVE LIARS & LIKE TO BOAST ABOUT THEMSELVES (only look out for # 1stuff). THAT KIND OF MAN WOULD SNUFF OUT ALL LIFE HERE FOR HIS TEMPORAL ILLUSION OF "GAIN". ANOTHER REASON WHY MORE PRINCIPLED PEOPLE (MORE WOMEN) SHOULD BE RUNNING FOR GOVERNMENT. https://lnkd.in/g_rRBeT4

Hollywood megastar Viola Davis recently re-amplified this perspective by the brilliant Lovelyn Nwadeyi because truth is ageless. You don’t need to understand in order to empathize with someone else’s experience. Rebekah Cempe wrote: “In order to empathize with others with different life experiences, we have to lay down our pride and accept that we don’t “get it,” but that we believe them. What does this look like? Men who don’t experience habitual, casual harassment believing the stories of women who do. People who appreciate law enforcement accepting that the uniform they respect incites fear in others. Straight people believing LGBTQ people when they share they’ve felt rejected by the church. Abled-bodied people listening to and making accommodations for disabled people who are frustrated by inaccessibility. White people listening to the grievances of people of color, and taking steps to remedy any hurt they have caused. The list could go on, but the key to empathy is understanding that we, in fact, don’t understand. Some would say that the term for this is sympathy, rather than empathy, because the word empathy comes with the connotation that we must be able to relate to someone else’s experience. Sympathy is what we offer to another when we acknowledge that a situation or experience is unfortunate, and leave it at that. Sympathy lets us claim that we “feel bad,” but absolves us from any further responsibility to learn or change. Empathy, however, calls us to consider another person’s story and reflect on their experience. Empathy calls us to be compassionate and to truly consider how another person feels. It calls us to want to learn, grow, and evolve toward love.” #classic #shesaidwhatshesaid #ourstoriesmatter #africa

Indeed living life is all about learning to appreciate the diversity of perspectives and then critically thinking of what takeaways hold meaning and relevance to you. As i embark on living out the rest of my life and resetting to make hard choices how i want to walk this journey, i reflect and realise from my own observations that what usually holds us back is our own emotional resistance to accept other individuals for who we want them to be rather than for who they are. i discover that once i learn to let go of my own confirmation biases, i start to better embrace diversity and differences. it is not a simple thing to do for it requires tremendous conscious & deliberate unlearning of bs that was socially conditioned by those who cared about us & our environment growing up. when all is said and done, death is the great leveller....for we came with nothing, and we depart with nothing, but the impact of relationships & memories we co-created interacting & engaging with other human beings who crossed paths with us. life becomes richer when we accept and embrace diversity of perspectives and learn to live harmoniously with differences.

Many of us are mystified by the increasingly bizarre (beyond merely "weird") smack talk and what seems like a sport of #lying among Republicans we know. Clearly they can't believe what they are saying. In any case, why do they persist with this nonsense? One explanation is from one of the most stable theories and findings since the beginnings of cognitive psychology--#cognitivedissonance--most notably represented in the classic work 60 years ago: "When Prophecy Fails" by legends Leon Festinger, Henry Riecken, and Stanley Schachter. This video is a nice introduction to enduring findings that describe the potential for cascading theater of the #absurd. Beyond the explanation in this video, consider the force of cognitive dissonance when faced with apparent #repudiation of one's beliefs and claims that logically imply a history of #harm done by them. At best, one should expect a period of #mourning. More commonly, one should expect a prolonged period of #denial until there are personal and external conditions for #contrition. This probably won't be happening any time soon. In the mean time, the sport of lying helps the most committed cult followers experience significant #emotional relief from any serious consideration of #consequences of their publicly stated beliefs. Perhaps we can find a way to be compassionate toward these victims if we recognize that their cognitive dissonance won't be evangelically effective with anyone who hasn't already been captured.
