If you are a founder or executive and you think the "Right to Disconnect" policy is bad for business, you should re-consider what makes good business. In any sustainable and healthy business culture, that policy should be irrelevant in the first place. #culture #canadianbusiness

Consider a … People-First Business approach! “Good Growth" goes beyond traditional business metrics like revenue and profit. It embodies a holistic approach that prioritises the well-being and development of individuals and communities. In our context, "Good Growth" means achieving positive outcomes not only for the business but also for its people—employees, customers, and the wider community! This approach recognises that sustainable success is rooted in putting people first… It involves fostering a positive work environment, promoting employee well-being, and contributing to the betterment of the community. It rejects the notion that financial success should come at the expense of individuals' happiness and fulfillment. In essence, "Good Growth" is about creating a thriving, purpose-driven business that not only achieves financial success but also leaves a positive and lasting impact on the lives of those connected to it. It's a commitment to a business model that prioritises people over purely profit-driven motives. And when you make the switch, a funny thing starts to happen…you will move closer to your destination much quicker than you ever thought possible! P.S - This approach has worked for me in my past senior leadership roles, and it’s still working today at Forward Thinking! The key is PEOPLE! And that will never change…. #Improvement #people #peoplefirstapproach #businessleadership

Values - they are the force that shape our identity and the compass for how we behave. Values are incredibly powerful and we are constantly reminded just how powerful through the scenes we are watching across the world right now. When I talk to people about Journey Further, I explain that we are a "values-led business". What this means in reality, is that our beliefs for the agency now are the same as when we started 7 years ago. Our values guide the key decisions we make and the behaviours we expect to see. My job is to ensure we always remain true to our values, as Matt Kwiecinski has said many times in company presentations - "if we live by our values we win, if we don't we lose". We have 4 values - 1. Open - we welcome all voices and perspectives. We are open to what comes next, not satisfied to stand still. We are open to feedback and invite each other to challenge, with care, helping to guide us to achieve great things. 2. Together - collaboration is our strength, we learn and grow together. We don't always get things right and that's OK. We never point the finger of blame, instead we find collective solutions to problems. The magic happens when we are together. 3. Pioneering - we urge everyone to experience, push boundaries, and continuously seek improvement - growth doesn't come from success alone. We want to put ourselves at the forefront of innovation. 4. Decisive - we act quickly and with integrity, never waiting to be told what to do. We empower ourselves and our teams to be decisive, moving at speed to create better outcomes for ourselves and our clients. The image is one of my JF favs and embodies many of our values. It was taken back in 2018 and was our first "Summer Smash", 2 nights and 3 days in beautiful North Wales. We were all Open to trying something new (most of us had never been surfing), we genuinely wanted to spend time Together and that included commitment over the weekend (just look at those smiles!) and we were Pioneering in our approach to building company culture - not many businesses back then (or even now) were prepared to invest to take their whole company away for such a long time, with zero business agenda. It gives me a lot of pride to see many of those faces still with us today, albeit slightly (a lot) more grey (me). We returned to the same spot the following year with a team more than twice the size, again with no agenda other than having some fun. This time we had so much fun Together we got banned from ever going back, true professional rebels in action (I'll leave that story for another time). #culture #eats #strategy #for #breakfast

In the fast-paced world of business, it's easy to get caught up in the daily grind, chasing profits and growth without pausing to reflect on our deeper purpose. But as leaders and entrepreneurs, we must remember that our businesses are not just entities driven by bottom lines—they are extensions of ourselves, our values, and our aspirations as human beings. We need to steer clear of the cliff's edge in our business journey by understanding and fulfilling our purpose. Why? Because purpose isn't just a buzzword—it's the guiding star that illuminates our path, infusing every decision, every action with meaning and significance. When we align our business objectives with our personal purpose, magic happens. Suddenly, our work becomes more than just a means to an end—it becomes a vehicle for positive change, a catalyst for growth, both personally and professionally. By tapping into our purpose, we unlock a wealth of benefits: increased employee engagement, and a stronger sense of fulfillment for ourselves and those around us. Purpose-driven businesses aren't just more profitable—they're also more resilient, better equipped to weather storms and navigate uncertainty with grace and agility. So let's take a step back from the daily hustle and bustle of business life. Let's pause, reflect, and reconnect with our purpose as human beings. Let's chart a course that honors our values, serves our communities, and leaves a lasting legacy of impact and inspiration. Together, let's steer our businesses away from the cliff's edge and towards a future defined by purpose, passion, and prosperity. Are you ready to unlock the true potential of your business? #PurposeDriven #BusinessSuccess #LeadershipJourney
