#ParliamentQuestion #dataleak P. Wilson asked questions to Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in the #RajyaSabha on whether personal data of 81.5 crore Indians including #Aadhaar and passport details are being #leaked from Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and sold in #darkweb as claimed by American cybersecurity firm, if so, the details of extent of leakage. In response, MeitY has denied the beach of #Aadhaar data from the Central Identities Data Repository (CIDR) maintained by the Unique Identification Authority of India (#UIDAI). However, the total number of #cybersecurity incidents as maintained by #CERT-IN are as follows: 3,94,499 incidents in 2019, 11,58,208 incidents in 2020, 14,02,809 incidents in 2021, 13,91,457 incidents in 2022 and 15,92,917 incidents in 2023. Users attempting to file complaints are encountering ongoing technical difficulties, including frequent page refreshes that result in log-out and impede successful reporting. This issue is particularly concerning for individuals needing to report urgent cybercrimes, such as threats, harassment, and online abuse, as it delays the reporting process and potentially hinders timely intervention. #MinistryOfHomeAffairs #NationalCyberSecurityCoordinator #IndianGovernment #eGovernanceIndia #CybercrimePolicy @ncsindia @cybersecurityindia @ncrbindia @IndiaHomeAffairs @CERT_India The Hindu
