MnSEIA is proud of our Director of Policy and Regulatory Affairs, Curtis Zaun, who took the stage at RE+ Midwest over the last two days, representing Minnesota’s solar market in a big way! Curtis joined three panels to dive into pressing topics, from Minnesota’s siting and permitting reform to development challenges and collaboration across the Midwest. We’re excited to share our work and insights, keeping Minnesota’s clean energy landscape at the forefront of regional conversations. Thank you to RE+ Midwest for having us!

Thx to The Energy Council for organizing a day of interesting panel discussions. Arbo's Chip Moldenhauer led thought leaders from Morgan Stanley Energy Partners, Equinor, and Westlawn in a discussion of regulatory and policy threats to the industry's rights to operate. If we’re going to power up this country with a more reliable and cleaner energy grid, then we need to get back to building... which has been made increasingly difficult by permitting, policy and litigation landmines.

Earlier this month, NNE’s BJ Carney shared insights regarding the company’s approach to methane emissions reduction at the Methane Mitigation America Summit in Houston, TX. Our team is proud to be a leader and early mover in certifying our natural gas production. In 2021, NNE was the first U.S.-based natural gas producer to achieve Equitable Origin’s EO100™ certification and the first West Virginia-based company to achieve independent certification under both the MiQ - Methane Intelligence standard and Equitable Origin standard in 2022. We are honored to have shared the stage with industry colleagues and leaders to discuss how we structure our systems to achieve operational efficiencies while meeting our sustainability goals here in West Virginia.

I was very fortunate to be able to share our team’s experiences with certification, emissions reduction technologies, and investor interactions at the Methane Mitigation Summit Series in Houston earlier this month. Special thanks to Roy Hartstein and William Foiles, CFA for moderating our panel discussions, and thanks to all of my colleagues on the panels. Special thanks to Olivia Schurer and her team for executing a great event. Some clear takeaways: - there needs to be clear direction and process established in the natural gas emissions certification space. Lots of players, techniques, standards that all need to be coagulated into something the world can use as a marker. Whatever we decide on has to have third party verification as a requirement. - we have the detection technologies to figure out where, when, and how emissions occur. Still need to work on new tech to cost-effectively actuate reductions based on what we see and measure.

We are thrilled to announce that the application we submitted for the USDA's New ERA (Empowering Rural America) program has been accepted. Seven States will receive a $439M investment to build more than 250MWs of renewable energy to serve the growing needs of the Tennessee Valley. This project will power approximately 113,000 homes on average per year. As our member LPCs and trusted partners know, sustainable, reliable, affordable power is essential to building and connecting to the grid of the future. We are honored to move forward with this project, we appreciate the continued support, and look forward to sharing updates. For more on this story, click here: https://lnkd.in/eJS7j8nr
