There are a few things that particularly worry HR Professionals thinking about moving into Consultancy Such as not being sure that you know enough. What if a client needs to know something and you aren’t sure of the answer? Will it completely undermine their confidence in your ability? If you don’t know the answer to something a client asks you - then you go and look it up. We live in the age of information. It’s never been easier to find out what you need to know. The main problem is that there is so much bad or inaccurate information. The advantage your clients get from having you is not having instant answers to every HR question they could ever ask but the fact that you have access to quality, accurate information and you can help them to understand and implement it. Change is happening all the time. You’ll never know everything no matter how much experience you have or how many courses you take. About 95% of the questions you will get asked as a Consultant you will already know the answer to - and the rest you can look up.
