Sustainability isn’t optional, it’s essential. Consumers are willing to pay nearly 10% more for sustainably sourced products, and brands like Tesla and H&M are already using product tracking to stay ahead. 💡 Digital Product Passports are the next step to build trust, fight greenwashing, and stay competitive in a demanding market. https://lnkd.in/efF_ru5e 🌱

💡 𝗪𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 In the past 25 years, from Kyoto through the Paris Agreement, governments and corporations have overwhelmingly approached sustainability through the angle of Carbon Reduction. This tunnel vision has created two problems: ❶ Companies have made pledges that only address Carbon, with a prevailing focus on Reduction. “Net Zero" or "Carbon neutral" became the main goal, while those concepts - at the scale of a company - rarely make much sense. ❷ Nature is not part of the equation - and has no intrinsic value other than carbon being sequestered. Nature has remained just a tool that companies use to create products and services. Biodiversity has secured no inherent value. And non-carbon pollution, like ocean Plastic, has been left outside the conversation. ✨ 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗺 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 ✨ Since COP15, a new world is emerging. New regulations, new reporting standards that give more importance to nature, new success stories. Paving the way for new approaches where companies can grow Natural Capital and put in on their books. We envision a new world where companies don't restore ecosystems to sweep their mess, but rather delink their Reduction targets from their Regenerative targets, and focus on driving positive change. We see the advent of a new sustainability where leadership is not measured in ad-hoc activities within each business but rather becomes integrated within the strategy, products, customer channels of regenerative companies. Visionary leaders in industries like Banking, Payment, Telcos, Marketplaces, and Consumer Brands, are already part of this revolution, using Handprint. ... It’s time for spicy hot take again for innovation and forward thinking: I felt the effect of social proofing our journey of conscious lifestyle and creating sustainable product brand. The big question is to B or not to B, and how to stand out as a good company from the noise of good marketing. Thank you wonderful host The Onset by Alyse Lucey for having a panel of discussion - bridging the green skills gap across technology, finance, food and fashion retail. 1. Net Zero vs. Carbon Neutrality: - Net zero focuses on reducing total greenhouse gas emissions, while carbon neutrality targets only carbon dioxide. - Reaching net zero by 2050 is crucial to combat climate change, as emphasized by Clima by CEO Bruno Giulio D'Andrea 2. Sectoral Challenges and Opportunities: - OzHarvest represented by Eliza in Food Industry: 30% of food is wasted in Australia, costing households $2,500 annually. Reducing food waste is a key opportunity. - Fashion Industry with case study of OrotonGroup by Jason Reason from Thinksideways Measuring complex supply chain emissions is a challenge, but engaging customers through circular models like resale and rental presents opportunities. - Financial Sector represented by Dr Mona Mashhadi Rajabi Estimating climate-related risks and transition costs is vital for informed business decisions. 3. Practical Steps for Businesses: - Commit at the leadership level, understand stakeholder priorities, and start with scope 1 and 2 emissions. - Ensure transparency and verifiability when using carbon offsets and nature-based solutions. 4. Future of Sustainability: - Adopt a human-centered approach, accept climate change as a major issue, and drive cross-sector collaboration. - Fundamental shifts in business values, branding perception and collective action are needed to achieve true sustainability. Overall, the panel provided a comprehensive overview of the complexities and practical steps involved in the transition to net zero, with valuable insights across various industries. #sustainability #netzero #leadership #futureproofyourbusiness

🌱 Ever wondered how companies can nail the sustainability game and win over eco-conscious consumers? 🌍 🚀 Enter auction-based testing – a game-changer in understanding what sustainability features actually drive consumer demand. This groundbreaking method, spotlighted in a recent German study, opens doors to unlocking the green potential in consumer tech products. ✨ Imagine this: Companies can now pinpoint exactly what eco-friendly features resonate with consumers and at what price points. From energy efficiency to recyclability and reduced carbon footprint, every green aspect can be put to the test. 📈 Now, applying this to a topic I'm personally passionate about, tech devices: Armed with insights into consumer preferences and willingness to pay for sustainability, companies can craft tech products that not only meet market demand but also pave the way for growth in the green tech sector. “ … the total amount of materials consumed by the global economy continues to rise: in just the past six years alone we have consumed … nearly as much as the entirety of the 20th century.” This statement, from the exec summary of ‘The Circularity Gap Report 2024’ ( https://lnkd.in/eF4GV3TZ) freaked me out when I read it in January. I mean, after all that’s been thrown at this climate thing, how could we be effectively going backwards? So, initially egged on by posts and encouraging messages from Vojtech Vosecky, who I now know to be a total rockstar in this space, and the legendary Walter R. Stahel, I decided to jump into learning mode to find out more. I had previously thought I’d have it all mastered in a month, then could take my business growth stuff, apply it to climate and sustainability, and start saving the planet. Hasn’t quite turned out that way; seems like there’s a lot more going on in this space than I realised, a lot to learn and a huge way to go to turn things around, in line with the emissions targets that have been set for 2030 and 2050, per the 2016 Paris Agreement. After taking the opportunity of some downtime in Sydney, while completing a Cambridge Uni course ('Circular Economy & Sustainability Strategies') in Q1 and bugging loads of climate and sustainability folks, mostly in Sydney but also all over the world (I do love how this challenge transcends borders - everyone has been so generous), I’m still well and truly on my ESG ‘L’ plates. But motivated to keep learning, and becoming involved, by others who’ve been around the space longer than me who reckon they’re still learning too. I'm not sure exactly where this is going to lead me personally, but I can't unsee what I've already seen so if/ when I'm back earning my bread and butter growing online marketplaces and scaling startups, there is no way I will be able to move on from climate and sustainability, it's way too serious and urgent to ignore. A few areas (of many) I'm zoning in on; 🧮 Carbon accounting & emissions reporting - "you can't manage what you can't measure", 👖 Sustainable fashion - it's horrendous what fast fashion is doing to the planet, 📣 ESG education and marketing - I'm not sure the message is really getting out, and ❤️ The often overlooked 'S' in ESG - so many people and start-ups doing some great stuff in this space - I am especially loving the OneAnother app atm, as well as Heartful and Mentwell. Some amazing people have been very generous with their time, giving me the heads-up on climate and sustainability/ all things ESG. Special thanks to those who have been on the receiving end of my various catch-ups, which always go way over time 😬 Dan Leverington, Dr Gayle Avery, Alex Fitzpatrick, Nancy Rhodes, Bailey Lenart, Jo Taranto, Alexander Horton, Cesar Moreno B, Chris Ingate, Jen Clark, Andrew O'Shea, to name just a few. OK, let's see where this goes .... 🌱🌱🌱 So looking forward to Climate Action Week Sydney next week 😀

Greenwashing will expose your brand. But authentic, digitally verified story will amplify it. Did you know that 34% of Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Tesla, and Volkswagen owners would switch brands based on ESG credentials? Welcome to the era of the conscious consumer — a global movement that’s redefining loyalty, reshaping industries, and demanding more from businesses. Consider this: 🇦🇺 9 in 10 Australians are more likely to purchase ethical and sustainable products. 💸 66% of consumers globally are willing to pay a premium for sustainability. 🌍 Even investors are prioritizing companies with strong ESG commitments. But these consumers aren’t swayed by greenwashing or empty promises. They want digitally verified supply chains that are transparent, ethical, and accountable. The question for every leader and CEO: Is your business ready for this seismic shift? Let’s discuss: 💬 What changes are you making to meet the expectations of the conscious consumer? #Sustainability #ConsciousConsumer #ESG #DigitalTransformation #FutureOfBusiness
