SWOT FOR AI OPPORTUNITIES ASSESSMENT? BAD IDEA! Why? Because using AI apps significantly change the way we do what we do, or even changes what we do. We'll be required to perform activities that we never did before, and use capabilities that we never had. How can we assess Strengths and Weaknesses related to something that we never did or had? Doesn't make any sense. SWOT is limiting our choices about the future to the things that we currently do, in the way we've been doing them until now. Do this instead: 1. Assess the future Tends and Weak Signals. Use PESTEL + Porter 5 Forces as 11-bin categorization to do the assessment. Some of those factors may be exploited as Opportunities. Others may be addressed as Threats. 2. Use your intuition /* to assess which Trends and Weak Signals can be exploited as key Opportunities and which ones should be addressed as key Threats. Weak Signals are not strong enough to be Trends today, but they have the potential to grow fast into Trends. 3. Assess which Capabilities (competencies, processes, relationships, resources, etc.) are required for exploiting those key Opportunities and for addressing those key Threats. Which ones are missing or need to be reconfigured or developed? That's the direction you need to focus upon.
