Few organizations are less effective than ones that try to implement a complex network of twenty or more simultaneous "strategic" plans (often one per business unit, management function or practice area). Always remember: strategy does not equal operational plan, action plan or functional goals. #strategicplanning

Good overview by HBR: “Few companies have a clear idea of where strategy making ends and execution begins. As a result they develop strategic plans where they’re not required and fail to develop strategic plans where they are. “

How UNIQUE is your strategy? A brilliant way to answer this question is to rank your strategy according to the Five Levels of Uniqueness (Credits: Jeroen Kraaijenbrink). We recommend you follow Jeroen as he shares lots of insightful content about strategy, strategy execution and more. This concept provides a framework for understanding the degree to which a strategy or offering is distinct within its context: 🔹Level 1: Unique to the Organization: Internal novelty without external differentiation. 🔹Level 2: Unique to the Region: Local differentiation, ignoring other markets. 🔹Level 3: Unique to the Market: Tailored for a specific market segment. 🔹Level 4: Unique to the Industry: Stands out within the industry. 🔹Level 5: Unique to the World: Offers unparalleled global solutions. Each level has its merits depending on the organization's goals and scope. How does YOUR strategy rank on the uniqueness scale? 🚀 #strategy #startegymanagement #startegyexecution

Playing To Win is one of my favourite books on corporate strategy. Written by AG Lafley, ex-CEO of P&G and Roger Martin, his consulting sidekick, They describe strategy as a cascading set of choices that all inter-relate: ➡ What is our winning aspiration? ➡ Where to play? ➡ How to win? ➡ What capabilities must be in place? ➡ What management systems are required? Swipe through this carousel for a few other concepts from the book. Choosing where to play (and where not to play) is a challenging decision. Deciding to focus on specific geographies, customer segments, or areas of the value chain means saying no to others - and that is where success lies.

This is a great chart. So many organizations once they start to gain momentum can't regulate the "entrepreneur spirit" that they started with. This leads to mismanagement of resources, spreading themselves too thin, and could lead to their demise. This is a primary reason why strategy and tactical approaches to opportunities are so critical. Sometimes leaders need a point of view from someone who's been there and can help navigate. #Strategy #longterm #focus #business
