Great session! Three things to underline, as they became clearer during the Q&A discussions: (1). The Strategic Horizon for the Strategy may be different from the Scenario Planning timeframe. Simply put, we may have (i) inflection points within our industry (in the micro-economic environment), determining Strategy's Strategic Horizon, and (ii) road-benders outside of it (in the macro-economic environment), determining the scenarios. In consequence, the defined scenarios may remain valid beyond our Strategy's horizon. The opposite is less likely. (2). From the point of view of scenario dependency, the Strategic Choices and their required Activities & Capabilities are (a) valid for all scenarios (but not with the same economic results), (b) requiring partial reconfiguration when a certain scenario prevails, and (c) valid only for one or more scenarios, but not for all, requiring to be completely replaced when at least one of the scenario prevails. (3). Strategy must be formulated and its execution must begin even before any of the defined scenarios prevail. When that happens, our Strategy and consecutive Strategic Plans must respond and adapt corresponding to the prevailing scenario, as per (2). Wonderful!
