Generic Structures - the future of PLM?! 🚀 I am convinced that generic structures -thought anew- are the basis for future PLM! 💡 Why is that? For CTO+, realized with the ERP near PLM paradigm “Generic Structure Instance Embedding” it is an imperative! (https://lnkd.in/e_n6JMAz) If I am right, it is crucial to see how the vendors position themselves on this! Yesterday I had the opportunity to talk to top experts from Siemens Digital Industries Software about this. We took a deep view at the brand new #Teamcenter 🔥Enterprise BOM. 🔥 I think this approach is really extraordinary convincing and pretty cool! Siemens Digital Industries Software has done a great job here! They implemented new, groundbreaking approaches in the TC data model. I am sure that other vendors will have to measure themselves against this concept! To doublecheck it - how did I understand the Enterprise BOM? ➡️ In the core, it realizes a managed Occurrence, meaning an Occurrence with its own lifecycle. With this, a Part BOM can be set up and flexibly controlled in a timely manner. ➡️ The managed Occurrence can be aligned with the Design BOM based on the classic BOM views. This makes it easy to combine the classic BOM concept with E-BOMs based on the new Enterprise BOM. ➡️ most important. Enterprise BOM allows partitioning. Partitions are flexible node and edge based generic structures that are used to bring different breakdowns into the BOM's. To be honest, I have been following and waiting for this since 2005. Now it's here! 😊   ...and for the SAP specialists - doesn't that sound like the SAP #IPPE concept? My answer is YES!! The respective structural concepts of the Enterprise BOM and the IPPE are definitely comparable! ....and you may have noticed in the market that although it has received few SAP attention, the IPPE is experiencing an incredible renaissance at many customers cases! 🔄 That’s why I am convinced that generic structures, designed according to the concept of Generic Structure Instance Embedding, are key to solving many important issues in industry. 🔑 I am curious to see when other vendors such as Dassault Systèmes, PTC or CONTACT Software will follow here. I expect that they have similar concepts already in their roadmap. Thanks again, Dr.-Ing.
