Introducing Tomorrow is the Question, the new Fully Human podcast. In our first episode, Jono Baggaley chats to Fully Human creative lead, Lewis Heriz, about their project Speaking Machines in which they’ve run workshops with children and young people exploring what it means to grow up interacting with voice assistants, smart speakers and the like. I found it a fascinating listen, exploring questions such as: * How does the human mind experience the audible (versus the visual), and in particular voices? * What might be the implications of young children believing there is a sentient being behind the voice of a machine? * And what tech decisions work to trick us all into feeling like there is? * How might human relationships be impacted by “relationships” with these machines? * And does technology like this hold more potential to harm those with less privilege?
