Starting a new job can be daunting, especially when you feel invisible and undervalued. But it doesn't have to be that way! I know from experience that a little effort goes a long way in making new hires feel welcomed and appreciated. That's why I took the initiative to create an onboarding process for my department, and it worked wonders! Now, I'm sharing my tips with you. One small step you can take is to send a welcome email a week before the start date, including the name of your contact or buddy for the day. It may seem like a small gesture, but it can make all the difference. Other things that have worked for me include providing a welcome pack with essentials like a notebook, pen, USB, and lanyard, a tour of the campus, and ensuring that tools like access cards and laptops are ready on day one. Let's make sure every new hire feels like a valued member of the team from day one. #onboardingexperience #newhire #success #partofateam #firstimpressionsmatter Overview. "Onboarding" refers to the processes in which new hires are integrated into the organization. It includes activities that allow new employees to complete an initial new-hire orientation process, as well as learn about the organization and its structure, culture, vision, mission and values.

Part of our onboarding process for every new hire is to run a research study on Great Question. The first study is to setup interviews with cross-departmental colleagues to understand their perception of your department / role; what can be improved; and how they can best work together. The screener for this study alone yields a ton of relevant data to support the new hire onboarding. Both for the IC and their manager. And it creates an easy way to meet their colleagues while experiencing using the Great Question platform. Win/Win.

How to welcome a new employee the right way? It is important to prepare thoroughly for your employee’s first day to start their journey on the right foot. The first 6 months are always a difficult learning curve so it is important to work hard to retain the new employee. Here are some of my top tips: 👉 Make sure that the onboarding documents are sent, signed and returned before their start date. 👉 Prepare their workspace – including equipment, office supplies and email access - prior to them starting. 👉 If it's not a new role, prepare a handover schedule for them to complete and make sure that they are happy it’s achievable before the leaving employee finishes their notice period. 👉 If it's a job creation, you will need to think about a training schedule. 👉 Assign them a mentor - someone who will answer their questions, and who they can turn to if they are experiencing issues. 👉 Make sure they are greeted enthusiastically and check in with them at the end of their first day and throughout their early employment. 👉 Remember mistakes will happen, it's a great way for them to learn and for you to put in extra controls and training where needed. #RecruitmentProcess #NewStarter #NewEmployee

Did you know 30% of new hires leave a job within the first three months? This highlights the critical nature of investing in a solid onboarding process and comprehensive training programs. From the moment a new team member joins, it's vital to make their integration process as smooth and informative as possible. Not only does this involve thorough training on services, product lines, and protocols, but also ensuring a warm, welcoming onboarding experience. Feeling overwhelmed in a new role can deter even the most enthusiastic employees. However, many product and technology brands provide training and sales support; if you’re without a dedicated training coordinator, leveraging these resources can significantly enhance your team's skill set and confidence. Remember, a well-trained employee is a confident and productive one. #EmployeeRetention #OnboardingSuccess

New Blog Post! Is your company's onboarding a disjointed, inefficient experience? Before you plan new content, you need to distinguish the key phases. 🌀 Too often, onboarding is front-loaded into the first few days... then the rest is left to the employee to figure out, the manager to guide, and teammates to tutor. The result? A disjointed, inefficient experience that could be significantly improved. Employee Onboarding can be broken into 4 distinct phases. Without these distinctions, your operations & hiring teams will have a rough time working as a team to provide an efficient, unified experience for the new hires. 1. Pre-boarding (Offer -->Day 1) 2. Company Onboarding (Week-1) 3. Department Onboarding (Month-1) 4. Role Onboarding (Month-2 & 3) 💰 *The Payoff:* If a company could shorten the ramp-up of all its incoming employees by even a week or two, the benefit would be enormous. Tip of the day: Before you post that job "quickly", "now", "yesterday". Ask yourself if you can onboard on that quality level, you'd like to see that person perform within the first 3-6 months. The onboarding stage is crucial for employee & company success. Hiring quickly is not fixing anything, if the frame is not set.
