Last year, we launched the UK’s first direct air capture plant. This year, we’re putting another two systems on the ground. (More on that here 👉 https://bit.ly/3SyEnIl) This ambitious growth is entirely down to the expert team we’ve grown around our mission. But what, exactly, goes into rapidly scaling a new #climatetech? Today we’re taking a look at what our Lab Technician, Nirav, gets up to in our East London HQ. ❓What does a lab technician do at a DAC company? 🅰️ Preparing samples to run experiments and then analysing the results, calibrating equipment, and working with the chemicals in our tech are all part of my day-to-day. ❓Why did you choose to work for a climate tech start-up? 🅰️ It’s beyond exciting to know that my work to ensure the quality of our results will help to inform technical decisions which shape the direction of planet-changing technology. What else would you like to learn about what goes on at Mission Zero HQ? #directaircapture #labtechnician #carbonremoval

Expertise shows in the finer details! Thanks to my training and many years as a service technician, I have a deep understanding of the technology. However, customers often underestimate the complexity involved in integrating a mixer. The challenge: At first glance, it seems easy to place a mixer in the production line and get straight to work. But the reality is different! Successful integration requires extensive pre-planning. It is crucial to choose the right time and process stage for the introduction and to select the optimum process for this. In my experience, numerous problems can arise without this careful preparation. First impressions are often deceptive! ✅ Comprehensive pre-planning is essential: Detailed planning before integration avoids future problems.. ✅Choosing the right time and process is crucial: Not every process stage is suitable for the introduction of a mixer. ✅Experience pays off: As an experienced service technician, I can recognise and avoid potential pitfalls at an early stage. #Efficientmixing #Batchmixer #Space-savingtechnology #Versatileapplication #Safetystandard

Keep on Learn and Improving
I asked this one technician who is operating the tools... "If the laser power degrades or deteriorates, what to do?" Then he replied, "I don't know, normally engineers come and solve...i just operate the tools and run the lot only" Then I said, "Will u work here until age of 60's? No right? Do you want to develop yourself and have a fantastic career development? Even though the engineer solved the problems, you also need to know what the root cause is, why it happened, how it happened, what is the prevention action etc... "Why do you need to know?" To learn, to enhance your technical skills, to upgrade your knowledge on the things that you do everyday... Can you go for an interview, then when interviewer asked about any problem happened at your tools, then your answer is : "Normally my engineer does that, do this, solve that, solve this" Get the info from the people around you, digest the info, learn and keep in mind...when the time comes for a better opportunity, whether it is internal or external, use it... That will define your value and differentiate you from others... that's how to show that you know what you're doing...✌️

In 2024, if you work in the field of Electroneurodiagnostics or Electroneurophysiology, you are a Technologist, NOT a Technician. In Canada in particular, most provinces buried the title Technician in this field over 30 years ago. Why on earth that job title still exists in this field is beyond me (other than to pay these professionals less than their worth). By the way, most of us in this profession find it highly offensive when you call us a technician...just saying! Technologist Definition: "... an expert in a particular field of technology." Technician Definition: "a person employed to look after technical equipment..."
