The General Election is just five days away! If you haven’t done so already, now is the time to make your voting plan. Every voter should have a plan before casting their ballot. Here are five steps you can take to make your voting plan: 1. Confirm your voter registration status. Some states, such as Virginia and the District of Columbia, allow you to register in person on Election Day or during early voting. You can check your registration status using this tool. 2. Research your early voting options. My prior blog post on early voting includes helpful early voting resources. 3. Learn your options for voting in person on Election Day. Know in advance where you can vote in person and what to bring with you. This site can help. 4. If you are voting in person, decide how and when you will get to the polls. Many organizations offer free or discounted rides to vote. For example, Lyft is offering half off rides to the polls on Election Day. 5. Get to know more about the candidates and issues on your ballot. It is critical to vote for all offices and issues on your ballot. My prior blog post on down-ballot voting has tips on how to prepare. Are you interested in learning about voter accessibility? Vermont has many options for making voting more accessible. For in-person voting, you can: ⭐ Use the Omni Ballot tablet accessible voting system at the polls. ⭐Bring a person of your choice into the voting booth with you for assistance. This person cannot be your employer or your union representative. ⭐Bring a magnifying glass to help read the ballot. ⭐Bring a list of candidates with you into the polls. ⭐Ask an election official to help you fill out your ballot. If you make a mistake on your ballot, do not panic - ask an election official for another ballot (maximum of 3). Other options for casting your vote: ⭐You may request to have a ballot dropped off at your home by two Justices of the Peace. You may also access a ballot online on the MyVoterPage; print it; and drop it off at your Town Clerk’s office. To access the MyVoterPage, please visit: https://mvp.vermont.gov The Omni Ballot system is available at most Town Clerk's office in Vermont for early voting, and at the polls on November 5th. Early voting effectively lengthens Election Day (Tue, Nov 5, 2024!) – it could be for a few days or even weeks. It allows you to plan and schedule voting on your calendar. It can even help reduce stress when Election Day is not the most convenient for you. Take a look at your options! For example, Mississippi early voting started Monday, September 23, and continues through Saturday, November 2. 3 Ways You Can Vote - Registered voters can apply for a vote-by-mail ballot by following the instructions found at VOTE.NJ.GOV or contacting their County Clerk. in person, using a voting machine, during the in-person early voting period before Election Day. Vote in person at your polling place from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
